I collaborate with you to determine your goals for treatment. Your desires for the focus of our sessions may include removing blocks to personal growth, improving relationships with yourself and others, undoing past conditioning- especially related to trauma or adverse experiences, transforming shame, or increasing your understanding of mental illness, whether it's yours or someone you love. I also work with those with compassion fatigue and burn out, assisting my clients in recovering the joy and drive they once felt in their professional lives. Over the course of time I will check in to make sure progress or unforeseen issues are addressed.
My clients include people who've experienced grief & loss, child abuse, sexual assault, military deployment, substance and gambling addiction, uncertainty in or about relationships, and burnout. I approach clients from a place of compassion with a goal of harm reduction while working with them to encourage mindfulness, self-compassion, healing and growth.
Each person has an inner wisdom that can serve as guidance to creating joy; sometimes this inner wisdom requires rediscovery. The tools I draw from in this process are eclectic. I draw from Rogerian, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, somatic, and parts work. When useful, I also include psychoeducation and skills training.
