Hello! My name is Steve Duff and I am excited to begin this journey with you. I previously worked in the community mental health setting and gained a deeper understanding of mental health disorders, especially in the area of trauma. I was fortunate enough to work with clients from different backgrounds and gain experience in the treatment of various mental health disorders. It was through this experience that I became passionate about working with individuals that have experienced trauma. I believe that I am different than most therapists, as I am real. I am a human being first and foremost, before a therapist.

Army Veteran with over 8 years experience in the Social Work field. He received his MSW from Western Kentucky University. Eric is trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy as well as provides psychotherapy for individuals, couples, families, and groups. As a former DCBS investigator, Foster Care therapist, and substance use therapist, Eric is committed to helping people overcome obstacles that are barriers to the change process. Therapeutic interventions are often used to help reduce trauma, depression, anxiety, and other stressors that people experience from time to time.

For 41 years I have been an attorney and had clients with varying backgrounds and issues. My retirement plan from the practice of law was to use all that experience to help others so now I am an LPCC hopefully touching lives in a helpful manner. I have seen how lives can be affected in a negative manner by divorce, drugs, crimes, and health issues which include mental health issues. Society puts more pressure on our lives daily and there is always a way to deal with life on life's terms. Come sit with me awhile and we will deal with life.

I fully believe that we all have the ability to be better, in many ways. We can learn to adjust , adapt, change, and be in control. We can learn to control our emotions, behaviors, actions, and thoughts. Awareness and mindfulness is attainable, we can learn this, and thus control the outcomes of our lives. We can't control the world around us, but we can control ourselves, and therefore, dictate how we live our lives, happy, and fulfilled. I earned a Bachelor and Master of Social Work degree from the University of Kentucky from years 1996-2001. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the State of Kentucky.

I have a great deal of experience working with people who have chronic illness, depression, anxiety and co-dependency. I work with many people who are the caregivers to their families. I’ve observed that caregivers are often wonderful about taking care of everyone except themselves. As a therapist I will help you prioritize self care. I will support you in setting limits and boundaries and keeping that backbone when then temptation is to please others at your own expense. It is OK to say “No”. It is OK to put yourself first for a change. It is important that you feel seen and heard. Your feelings matter.

My specialty client populations I have worked with previously are those struggling with addiction, those experiencing homelessness, and at-risk youth. Any goal, need, and challenge brought to me are met with the understanding that you are the expert of your situation. I will work to assist you through using the skills I have accumulated throughout my education and career to best serve you at your most vulnerable times while learning from your experiences to provide the best possible care and further assist where and when able. I have experience in both outpatient and inpatient counseling, as well as individual and group counseling.
