Dr. Dan Bates is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Kentucky who has been practicing since 2010. He has a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Arts in Ministry and Leadership from Western Seminary, a Master in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Seminary, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Washington State University. In his counseling approach, Dr. Bates works from a cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) model, which focuses on the role of thoughts in psychological problems.

I treat adults with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, depression, chronic illness, caregiver fatigue, relationship problems, insomnia and addiction. For addiction clients I help client make the decision to quit or help with relapse prevention after they have been in treatment.. I use 12 step based education, the transtheoretical model, cognitive therapy, motivational interviewing and acceptance and commitment therapy. I am also familiar with DBT and Gottman;s seven principles.
