I am a clinical psychologist with thirty years of experience in psychotherapy. I work with people struggling with those emotional and relationship problems, including depression, anxiety, intimacy and commitment issues, and the many subtle forms of self-defeating behavior that may limit their success and happiness. Sometimes these problems can be satisfactorily dealt with in a short time. Often they cannot. I like to work with people in both categories; but I most enjoy the challenges and rewards of working with those who must choose the longer path in search of a better solution, and of deeper self-knowledge.
I practice psychodynamic psychotherapy because clinical experience and research both demonstrate its effectiveness in helping people to clarify and deal with the fullest range of those inner conflicts and emotional difficulties which so often undermine their happiness and hinder their ability to make effective use of their abilities and talents.
I have practiced psychotherapy in many settings. My education includes four years of post-doctoral training, as well as graduation from a psychoanalyic institute. I am a member of both the American Psycholocical and the International Psychoanalytical Associations. I strive to synthesize all of these influences in my current practice.
