About
Walking into a therapist's office is an act of courage. Psychotherapy is challenging, collaborative work. A pivotal piece of psychotherapy is finding the right match in selecting your therapist. In my practice, the therapeutic alliance is formed only after the client feels truly heard and understood. Thereafter, a treatment plan is formulated and the work begins.
My orientation has been and continues to be an ongoing evolution of several therapeutic foundations that are woven together. Family systems theory remains the centerpiece while cognitive behavioral approaches have been subsequently added. More recently, I have incorporated ideas and practices associated with Buddhist thought into my work.
Throughout 40 years of practice, I have maintained a client-centered approach. The interests, goals & needs of the client form the basis of the therapy. Creating an active feedback loop, the work continues – supporting client’s strengths and capabilities – until the client decides enough work has been accomplished and a satisfying closure has been achieved.
