My aim is to provide a safe space where I can listen attentively to your concerns and help you explore your feelings, fantasies and thoughts in as honest a way as possible. I want to establish a connection, and together, utilize that relationship to provide you with deeper insight,a greater sense of inner peace, and concrete steps toward a more fulfilling life. The integration of a psychoanalytic approach with mindfulness helps in many areas and is especially effective in making progress with problems of self perception, self absorption and self esteem.

I draw on many years of experience as a therapist.I am a Training and Supervising Psychoanalyst and Faculty with the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas.I have served as Director of the UNC-Duke Psychoanalytic Education Program. I have studied mindfulness intensively at the Duke Center for Integrative Medicine.

I get a lot of satisfaction from working as empathically as I can with people in some distress who want help. An office on an old mill site in the woods seems to lend a hand to our joint efforts.
