Life isn’t always easy. Especially when others are unable to relate to what you feel and experience. You want compassion. It's hard to be your true self around others for fear of judgment. Society wants you to fit into a nice little box and it makes it impossible to be who you are. You can be surrounded by family and loved ones who care about you and want the world for you, yet you feel so lonely and isolated. Sometimes it feels like no one understands you and never will. The pain may seem unbearable. You struggle with so many personal concerns and just want someone who can relate to you with the experience to help.

I’m a therapist who specializes in substance use disorders, trauma, emotional dysregulation, stress management, and life transitions.
Whether you have been to counseling before or this is the first time you have ever considered trying it, it can be a scary and daunting step to take. Finding the time can feel impossible, especially if your "emotional tank" is already on empty. Therapy is a form of self-care we all deserve and it looks different for everyone. You may have something specific you want to focus on or you may just need a supportive space to talk to someone who will listen. Everyone is welcome regardless of what brought you here.

I work with clients ready to understand themselves and develop practical strategies for life. Many come struggling with ADHD, religious trauma, or dealing with the pressures of everyday life. Together, we build coping skills, strengthen self-care, and apply research-backed strategies in ways that actually work day-to-day. My approach is supportive, down-to-earth, and focused on giving you tools to move forward while honoring that you’re human, not just a set of problems to fix.

I believe change is hard, and therapy is an endeavor that takes courage, but it's also an opportunity for growth, healing, and moving forward. If you've never been, therapy may appear intimidating, but it's really just a process of identifying areas to work on, developing goals, and then working toward those goals. It's awesome getting to work with people who are ready to start the process of change and experience the emotional, spiritual, and relational growth that happens as a result. Some of the areas I work with clients on are anxiety, depression, trauma, couples therapy, borderline personality disorder, boundaries, and others.

Does life seem like a struggle lately? Do you often feel empty and isolated? After a while, you may have lost your sense of self and wake up one day asking, "Who am I?" Through years of conformity, approval-seeking, and fear, individuals may become incongruent with themselves. Our insides do not match our outsides. Our core is filled with pure light and love, but it appears dim due to the masks we wear. The masks are our fears that block us from experiencing our truth, and we do not know who we are anymore. In a trusting and therapeutic environment, you can engage in self-exploration and rediscover who you really are.

Many women live with a quiet but persistent feeling of being misunderstood, constantly trying to meet the expectations of others while feeling disconnected from their true selves. Whether it is the weight of unprocessed grief, unresolved trauma, or self-doubt that lingers despite accomplishments, this internal struggle creates exhaustion and frustration. You may feel like you are always playing a role, never fully embracing your own identity, and wondering how to break free from the patterns that hold you back.

You came across me because you are likely considering therapy or counseling for yourself, a family member, or a friend. Usually, a person considers treatment for two reasons. Either you are reacting to an immediate event or crisis in your life or have been thinking about addressing ongoing issues. My approach to therapy is client-centered, empathic, interactive and rooted in time-tested techniques that produce deep, long-lasting change. Numerous studies have shown that results in therapy have more to do with the of the quality of relationship between a skilled therapist and an invested patient.

Substance Use Therapists
How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?
In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.
How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?
Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.
How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.
Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?
There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
