You keep finding yourselves in the same fight. Sometimes it’s about money, sometimes the kids, sometimes something so small it shocks you how big it gets. You’re tired of feeling more like roommates than partners. You miss laughing together, being on the same team, feeling close. And deep down, you’re scared your kids are starting to think this is what love looks like. Here’s the truth: you’re not broken, and your relationship isn’t beyond repair. The patterns you’re stuck in are just that — patterns. They can be understood, interrupted, and changed.

I explore concerns through an attachment-based lens to understand relational patterns, individual experiences, and family-of-origin influences.
Life can feel overwhelming at times. You may find yourself caught in patterns of overthinking, struggling in your relationships, or feeling like you've lost sight of yourself. Perhaps you're noticing that past experiences continue to influence how you think, feel, or relate to others. Wherever you find yourself, you don't have to have everything figured out to begin. Therapy offers an opportunity to better understand yourself, make sense of your experiences, and discover new ways of moving forward. I'll meet you where you are and walk alongside you as we work toward what matters most to you.

You are not alone in this and you deserve a safe space as you work toward the life you have hoped for. It is easy to feel lost, unsure of where to go next, often finding yourself repeating patterns that keep you feeling stuck. Maybe it doesn’t have to be like this. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling to adjust to life transitions or feeling lost in self doubt, there is hope.

Even loving relationships can begin to feel stuck. You may find yourselves caught in recurring conflict, feeling disconnected, struggling to communicate, or missing each other despite good intentions. Couples therapy creates space to slow down, better understand the patterns beneath the tension, and rebuild emotional safety, closeness, and connection. Together, we work toward helping each partner feel more understood and supported in the relationship. And it's in this space that couples often find new ways to turn toward one another with greater openness, trust, and care.

I am passionate about working with young adults - adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or caught in patterns that no longer serve them. Many of my clients come to therapy carrying the effects of trauma, betrayal, anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, shame, or life transitions that have left them questioning themselves and their ability to move forward. I also enjoy working with individuals who have spent much of their lives caring for others while losing touch with their own needs, desires, and sense of identity.

I draw on CBT, attachment-based work, and the Gottman Method — with warmth, honesty, and a little humor.
You've spent years learning how to push through at work, as a mother, and in your marriage, where showing up can mean managing logistics instead of actually connecting. Maybe you're the one who's burnt out and anxious. Maybe your relationship has drifted into roommates-who-split-chores territory, with no single blowup to point to. You don't need a crisis to justify coming in just readiness to slow down and reconnect, with yourself or your partner. I work with high-achieving women and couples in the Birmingham area doing exactly that.

Does life seem like a struggle lately? Do you often feel empty and isolated? After a while, you may have lost your sense of self and wake up one day asking, "Who am I?" Through years of conformity, approval-seeking, and fear, individuals may become incongruent with themselves. Our insides do not match our outsides. Our core is filled with pure light and love, but it appears dim due to the masks we wear. The masks are our fears that block us from experiencing our truth, and we do not know who we are anymore. In a trusting and therapeutic environment, you can engage in self-exploration and rediscover who you really are.

I have almost 20 years of clinical experience in various specialties, and in other countries. That time has shown me that everyone will face moments that feel overwhelming. Sometimes that means a new career, going through a divorce, moving, or suffering a loss. Life is complicated and often difficult, but there are skills and support that can help. Everyone has a unique story shaped by their experiences, and I tailor therapy to meet each client's specific needs. I often use CBT, & DBT, but draw from many other techniques as well.

Attachment-based Therapists
Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?
Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?
Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?
Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?
Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
