Couples assessments for marital and pre- marital have a small fee but can be valuable in couples work.
Taking the steps for change can be scary and uncomfortable. It is so rewarding to help and see my clients get unstuck and gain new perspective. The support of counseling can build on motivation for change, provide some clarity, and promote better health and wellness. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults since 2003 and currently see adults and couples both in-person and via telehealth. Call today and make the first step to work on you.

*NOT ACCEPTING CLIENTS* There you are! You've made the decision that, at one time or another, we've all had to make in life. Whether there has been loss, traumatic experiences, relational problems, parenting woes, the fear of the unknown, or anything else that brought you to the realization that help is needed you've made that step. I can assist with helping to sort through the "unwanted pile-ups" as we work together to find that place of tranquility. I have a Masters in Professional Counseling and I have worked with teens, adolescents, as well as parents, where unwanted behaviors have taken a toll on the warmth in the relationship.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate who works under the supervision of Dr.
Life can be unpredictable at times. We may be going through a storm at the moment, overcoming one, or about to enter one. These storms in life can come at us in many different forms, such as anxiety, depression, loss, grief, divorce, unexpected life changes etc. Whatever storm you may be experiencing, you don't have to experience it alone. Together, we will create a path to move forward in life regardless of the storms trying to prevent our emotional healing and restoration.

I received my Undergraduate degree from Samford University in Human Development and Family Studies and a Masters degree from the University of Alabama with a specialty in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Now accepting new clients. I believe we all have a story of how we think our lives are going to play out in our heads. When that story does not come true it leaves us feeling lost, sad, and sometimes angry. I provide a safe place to help people be able to make sense of life and start rebuilding themselves and their relationships.

As a marriage & family therapist, my goal is to help you reach your goals and to celebrate life in a more fulfilling way.
Working with individuals, couples and families, I coach clients to resolve their problems within the context of their family or work relationships. Research has demonstrated that these relationship based interventions are, in many cases, more effective and cost less than alternative forms of intervention.

Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
