I offer Christian counseling, cognitive behavioral therapy, grief counseling and dialectical therapy in a non-judgmental, warm environment.
Sometimes it's hard getting out of bed, eating a meal or maybe overeating, going to sleep or maybe sleeping too much, it happens to 1 in 5 people, these are common symptoms of depression. Did you know that many people who have depression also have anxiety? Is it hard to stay focused on tasks? Is worry common every day to you? Do you feel out of control when you can't control? More than 40 million people in the US, age 18 and older, suffer from anxiety, but only a few ask for help to this highly treatable condition. None of us are perfect, my approach is one of encouragement and empowerment to live life to the fullest potential.

My approach to therapy is eclectic approach including Client Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Committee Therapy, and Emotional Interviewing.
Being a therapist was my childhood dream. My mom and dad were pastors of a small country church. I saw their love and commitment to the needs of others. When people were hurting, I wanted to help. I realized to do that in an effective way as a career, I needed the proper education and credentials.

Why CBT?
My hope for each person I work with is that you feel like you have someone you trust to talk to in the midst of life's crazy circumstances! Counseling is a space to openly talk to someone with an unbiased “birds-eye” perspective of what you are going through. I treat everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. You can expect that I will be an engaged listening ear for you to sort through and externalize everything that you may be experiencing day to day. My approach is to help people find meaning, purpose, and hope in the face of suffering or hardship, as well as equip them with the tools to live a healthy, fulfilled life.

My therapy style incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( CBT) to help reframe negative thoughts, mindfulness techniques to reduce stress, and solution-focused strategies to empower you toward lasting change.
Life doesn’t always go as planned. When stress, anxiety, depression, or the weight of your past start piling up, it can feel overwhelming to carry it all alone. If you’ve been powering through, trying to hold it together, but still feel like something’s missing, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. This isn’t one-size-fits-all therapy. You’re not just a name on a schedule, and our time together won’t be just another session. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, substance use, depression, or simply trying to rediscover who you are in this season of life, this is your space to slow down, breathe, & be real.

I work with individuals and families and specialize in anxiety, depression, family conflict using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help my clients work beyond their negative thoughts toward a healthier option.
If my clients identify as Christian and would like to incorporate spirituality in their sessions, then I would use a biblical approach. The types of clients I typically work with are young adults, adults, and senior adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life and communication issues.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
