Hi, you are so brave to take the first step in the counseling journey. This world can be unkind, confusing, and overwhelming and there are times when we all need someone to help us navigate it. For almost 20 years I have been helping individuals and families find healing on their journey. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, grief or trauma, your story is welcome.

For 15+ years, I've passionately supported individuals, groups, and families as a counselor, fostering a secure environment for them to address life's challenges. I integrate various therapies like CBT, Person-Centered, Solution-Focused, Psychoanalytic, and Gestalt, tailoring sessions to client needs, lasting 30 minutes to an hour, at $75.00 or $150.00, respectively.

I am an associate licensed counselor (ALC) under the supervision of Dr. James Jackson, LPC. I am also pursuing my Registered Play Therapist credential. I earned my M.Ed. in counseling from The University of Montevallo. I enjoy working with clients of all ages. My goal as a counselor is to align myself as a companion to you in whatever circumstance you are needing support. Some of the challenges my clients have struggled with are anxiety, depression, loneliness, and grief.

I see clients with needs involving emotional and mental pain that come from a variety of different pathways, including but not limited to, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and trauma. I look to provide the client with evidenced based practices and interventions to allow the client, caregiver, and I to collaborate and determine the best pathway to growth. I see clients ranging in ages, from 3 to adulthood, and I work with relational problems, including families, divorce, blending families, and couples. I start with a Client Centered approach and integrate modalities as necessary to best serve my clients.

Dr. James L. Jackson has over 15 years experience providing professional counseling for children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing mental and emotional pain related to anxiety, depression, and trauma. Dr. Jackson is certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and is a Registered Play Therapist and Supervisor. James works with clients as young as age 3 and uses evidence-based therapy modalities to address behavioral and emotional concerns.

Hey, I'm Larkin and I'm genuinely glad you're here! The idea that we or our loved ones are struggling and need help can stir up a number of uncomfortable emotions that we often try to ignore. If there is one thing I believe holds true, it is that having feelings makes us human. Feelings help us understand the world, they guide our thoughts and behaviors, they impact our relationships, and when we learn to listen to what they are trying to tell us, they can help us grow. When our lives have been impacted by trauma or adverse experiences, tuning back in to our mind and body can feel daunting and that is where I come in!

I work to create a safe, confidential, genuine, and non-judgmental setting, which is essential for establishing a healthy therapeutic relationship. When clients can experience a sense of unconditional positive regard from their therapist, they will be more apt to be vested in the therapeutic process. Part of my job as a therapist is to actively listen to what you are saying and not saying, during each session. Through active listening, I can help you explore the underlying issues of your experience as well as identify your personal strengths. I utilize a myriad of therapeutic approaches in meeting clients' individual therapeutic goals, needs, and styles. Such as, 'talk' therapy, humanistic, cognitive-behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, play therapy, and sand tray therapy, etc. I promote increased self-awareness and actualization, which develops emotional, physical, and spiritual balance. This works towards reducing many sources of conflict in one's life.
