You or your partner may notice your relationship seems off track. You realize that you feel disconnected and you seem to have the same conflict. Perhaps there has been infidelity or some other trust violation that is overwhelming. Perhaps one person is dealing with anxiety, depression, or trauma that isolates you from each other. You may notice that you don’t feel like yourself anymore. You realize that you are easily overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, feel bad about yourself. Perhaps you have experienced a traumatic or stressful event that you haven't been able to "let go”. Perhaps you are grieving the lost of a love one.

Depression, Stress, Anxiety, LGBTQ+ issues, Family Conflict and Relationship issues are also a focus of mine and I offer individual, family and group support, as well as TeleHealth sessions.
"My purpose today is clearer today than it has been in years: Love, Courage, Truth...The best way we can serve people is to listen." - Glennon Doyle Melton I chose this quote to emphasize that by "listening" to one another, by being present, we provide a safe place for those who are willing to sacrifice and own their pain by sharing it with others. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am here to walk alongside you as you process life's challenges and show you that by speaking your truth, by digging deep, together, we are able to demonstrate that taking care of our Mental Health is the ultimate sign of strength.

I've worked with a wide variety of people with issues like trauma, addiction, anger management, relational, family, anxiety, depression and PTSD.
Thank you for the opportunity for considering me to work with you. My background is unique and varied which provides a broad range of knowledge, and experiences from having served in the U.S. Army, worked in Law Enforcement for over twenty-five years, worked on a church staff and as Therapist. I find it rewarding to help individuals realize their potential, see hope in a better future and becoming their best selves in life. We should not be defined by the negative beliefs we hold about ourselves but in the positive changes we can make. I have worked with individuals, couples, families, groups, adults, and adolescents.

I welcome the challenges you bring because I recognize how hard it is to balance work, family responsibilities and any social commitments while hiding internal emotional pain or conflict.
Life provides us with many challenges that can lead to feeling overwhelmed or unsure of our ability to successfully cope. When we are faced with these challenges, either from depression, adjusting to life transitions or changes in our moods or behaviors, it takes courage for us to make the decision to ask for help through counseling.

As you work on questions and traumas pertaining to identity, anxiety, depression, family, grief, faith (or its deconstruction), and relationships, I will help guide you in identifying what you need in order to move forward.
Exploring who we are; reflecting on what we value; learning to trust ourselves and our feelings: these are all important steps on our journey. There are times in which these answers are clear, and seasons in which answers seem impossible. Regardless of where you find yourself on this journey, I consider it a privilege to join you in your quest toward wholeness and meaning. Using an integrative approach drawing from Depth Psychology, Mindfulness, and CBT, my desire is to meet you where you are. I can assure you that no matter where you find yourself, you will be accepted exactly as you are, and where you are.

The ideal client for me is someone who comes to therapy with an idea of what hurts and doesn't know what to do to fix their problems. I am creative in helping you find solutions to your problems that are doable, that fit with who you are and can be used throughout your lifetime. Homework often helps to expedite the process and it might include a book, a handout, an audio, a website or a plethora of other helpful means to get to your therapy goals.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
