My ideal client is ready to stop just going through the motions and start healing. Together, we’ll create space for you to be seen, understood, and supported—so you can show up fully for yourself and build a life that feels real and fulfilling.

I have special training in EMDR and Emotionally Focused Therapy that I utilize with couples, individuals, and families.
You or your partner may notice your relationship seems off track. You realize that you feel disconnected and you seem to have the same conflict. Perhaps there has been infidelity or some other trust violation that is overwhelming. Perhaps one person is dealing with anxiety, depression, or trauma that isolates you from each other. You may notice that you don’t feel like yourself anymore. You realize that you are easily overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, feel bad about yourself. Perhaps you have experienced a traumatic or stressful event that you haven't been able to "let go”. Perhaps you are grieving the lost of a love one.

I want to commend you for being brave and taking an important step towards living a healthier life. There's some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that suffering is not always avoidable, as you probably already know. The good news is that we can find healing and learn to suffer well. People walk through life with unhealthy behaviors, emotional injuries, unproductive beliefs, and other burdens that they shouldn’t have to carry and don’t really need to carry. Using evidence based practices, like EMDR and DBT, I help people heal trauma, find relief from past wounds, have a more fulfilling present, and a more hopeful future.

"My purpose today is clearer today than it has been in years: Love, Courage, Truth...The best way we can serve people is to listen." - Glennon Doyle Melton I chose this quote to emphasize that by "listening" to one another, by being present, we provide a safe place for those who are willing to sacrifice and own their pain by sharing it with others. You find yourself stuck in the same negative cycles. You trust the wrong people and get into relationships that only leave you feeling manipulated, abused, and unsafe. They’ve taken away your power, your voice, and the weight of trauma has left you questioning your worth. You’ve tried reaching out to loved ones, connecting to your faith, and other means to address your concerns, but all those choices have failed. Your needs are not met, and you desperately desire support to make consistent, positive changes to succeed mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.

Life has a tendency to be very unpredictable, even when we feel like we have it all figured out. Sometimes it's helpful to have someone to walk with you through its challenges... or to have someone willing to get in the trenches with you as you navigate grief, loss, stress, past trauma, and hard life transitions.

I have extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds. My approach to therapy is deeply relational, grounded in evidence-based practices that help clients repair and strengthen the relationships that matter most. My early clinical work was rooted in treating adolescents with complex trauma and high-risk sexual behaviors in a juvenile detention center—an experience that shaped my ability to connect with people regardless of their circumstances, behaviors, or life challenges. This ability remains one of my greatest strengths as I help clients heal in the context of their relationships.

We are all unique and so are the struggles we face daily. Being unique is great, yet there comes a time when we are faced with challenges, feeling stuck, frustrated, angry or simply misunderstood. It is during these times that it is beneficial to seek someone outside of that current situation for fresh insight, an objective perspective and a listening, non-judgmental ear. Sometimes an outsider looking in may be exactly what you need in order to identify and develop the best solution to meet your unique and individual needs. Life is full of ups and downs- in therapy we learn how to maneuver through the waves of life.

Making sense of life's troubles is challenging for all of us. Because we are fearfully and wonderfully made, all of us are unique and important. But we are also broken. And that brokenness can be spiritual, mental, or physical-likely a combination of all three. My goal as a counselor is to provide compassionate care for the whole person using the truths of the Bible and modern therapies to bring help and hope for life's difficulties.

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.
Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.
What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.
What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
