With more than two decades of seasoned experience as a Military Chaplain and Professional Coach, I offer a guiding hand to individuals and couples navigating life's complexities.
I believe in transparency and authenticity, and I often help individuals from a non-faith perspective. However, as a Christian coach, I can help you discover who you are and who God is calling you to be. Regardless, we'll start by looking at your worldview and what big assumptions might be keeping you from achieving your full potential.

Life provides us with many challenges that can lead to feeling overwhelmed or unsure of our ability to successfully cope. When we are faced with these challenges, either from depression, adjusting to life transitions or changes in our moods or behaviors, it takes courage for us to make the decision to ask for help through counseling.

With couples, I use the Gottman method and focus not only on developing healthy communication but also on creating greater intimacy and the emotional connection needed for relationships to thrive.
I want to commend you for being brave and taking an important step towards living a healthier life. There's some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that suffering is not always avoidable, as you probably already know. The good news is that we can find healing and learn to suffer well. People walk through life with unhealthy behaviors, emotional injuries, unproductive beliefs, and other burdens that they shouldn’t have to carry and don’t really need to carry. Using evidence based practices, like EMDR and DBT, I help people heal trauma, find relief from past wounds, have a more fulfilling present, and a more hopeful future.

I help individuals and couples work through anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and feeling stuck.
You show up for everyone else—but inside, you’re exhausted, anxious, and disconnected. Maybe you’re smiling on the outside, but struggling to get out of bed, feeling stuck in old pain, or overwhelmed by pressure to keep it all together. You long to feel like you again. My ideal client is ready to stop just going through the motions and start healing. Together, we’ll create space for you to be seen, understood, and supported—so you can show up fully for yourself and build a life that feels real and fulfilling.

I also provide family and couples therapy.
I provide research based therapeutic interventions. The treatment approach is dependent on the presenting problem; however, I typically work from a cognitive behavioral/interpersonal modality. I believe that our perspective, the way we view ourselves and the world, influences how we interact with our own thoughts as well as how we engage with others.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
