Depression, Stress, Anxiety , LGBTQ+ issues, Family Conflict and Relationship issues are also a focus of mine and I offer individual, family and group support, as well as TeleHealth sessions.
"My purpose today is clearer today than it has been in years: Love, Courage, Truth...The best way we can serve people is to listen." - Glennon Doyle Melton I chose this quote to emphasize that by "listening" to one another, by being present, we provide a safe place for those who are willing to sacrifice and own their pain by sharing it with others. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am here to walk alongside you as you process life's challenges and show you that by speaking your truth, by digging deep, together, we are able to demonstrate that taking care of our Mental Health is the ultimate sign of strength.

Are you having a difficult time adjusting to a new life change? Do you experience anxiety and/or depression? Do grief and trauma seem to take over your life at times? If you answered "yes" to any of these situations, I might be able to help you. Together, we can work to build a solid foundation from which you can begin to adjust to whatever life brings you. I incorporate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness techniques into my practice to help my clients ground themselves in the present moment and be able to take the techniques they develop in session into their daily life.

I've worked in university and community mental health agency settings treating a wide range of presenting problems in individual, couple, and family constellations including sexual and communication struggles within couples, post-traumatic stress, anxiety , ADHD, depression, and suicidal thoughts or behaviors in diverse populations.
Sometimes we seek change because we feel like we are drifting apart from ourselves and those closest to us, and we’ve been stuck in this rut without being able to break the patterns that dig us in deeper. This affects us personally, but it also pulls us further from our partners and the ability to connect in ways that feel loving, supportive, and aligned with our sense of values and who we are. Through our work together, we can explore these patterns and rework them so they work for you. I primarily work with couple structures or individuals navigating struggles with intimacy such as sexual trauma, mismatched desire, unhelpful commu

It’s time for a new approach. You’ve tried numerous ways to overcome depression and anxiety , but in the end, you’re left feeling even more worried and defeated. Maybe the strategies that worked in the past aren’t working anymore. Trying to find relief from this suffering can turn into an exhausting cycle. This emotional distress can cause you to feel detached from others and make it seem impossible to feel joy. This depression and anxiety can lead to physical problems like fatigue, poor sleep, muscle tension or even lead to more severe medical conditions.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
