I challenge each of my clients to explore their world in new ways of comprehension and to learn how to make better choices in their lives.

Client problems often include depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety , relationship difficulties, ADHD, employment stress, parenting, financial problems, life transitions, sexuality, health, substance abuse etc. My experience has included military families, college students, abuse and trauma survivors, emergency room patients, couples, etc.

I am currently accepting new clients throughout Alabama. My experience includes working with children/adolescents, adults, and families that may experience depressive and anxiety symptoms, behavioral issues, family conflict, identity issues (sex and racial identity), and life-induced stressors.

Welcome to A New Direction Inc. I have 5 locations in Montgomery, AL & Jacksonville, FL. Each location is filled with love, care, professionalism, and trust with highly trained therapist. Therefore, my first commitment is YOU. I have worked extremely hard to expand services to reduce crisis that often escalate to suicidal patients needing in patient treatment by extending our Intensive Outpatient Hours so that families are able to keep their children home while receiving more hours of treatment. Furthermore, we are running a special for families without insurance to make healthcare more affordable. We are here for you.

I have been in practice helping people for over 35 years and in all likelihood I can help you. I am sort of jack of all trades. I treat children and adults with depression and anxiety . I do much marriage counseling. Infidelity and communication are two of my specialties. There isn't anything I haven't heard. I am non judgmental. This is a very hard time for everyone because of COVID-9. Depression and anxiety get worse with isolation. I know what you are going through. Marriages get stressed when people have to stay home or work not knowing whether COVID-9 is around the corner. I really want to help you get to a better place.

Dr. Brittany Blackmon-Harper is a licensed psychologist who works with adults on a number of different specialty areas, including trauma, stress management, emotion regulation, life planning, relationships discord, anxiety , and depression.  Dr. Blackmon-Harper is trained in evidenced based treatment (trauma- focused treatment, cognitive behavioral therapies) with extensive experience working with the underserved populations, groups, couples and individuals. She is dedicated to providing high quality treatment.

I now have some weekday evenings and Saturdays available. An ideal client is one who is opening and invested in seeking growth and improvement. Working together we can find, not only the right answers, but find the right questions.
