I use an eclectic approach using evidence based practices and techniques from EMDR, Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Art Therapy,
Dialectical
Behavior Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy.
Our practice was established in 2015 and we are here to help the community. I've been serving this community as a therapist for 13 years, and I am here to help you grow, heal, and change. I usually like to understand your story and life experiences that have led you to the place you are in at this moment, so that we can unroot some belief systems that have held you back from your full potential. A new perspective and understanding can change everything. Due to my training and experience, there is little that would surprise me. I offer a nonjudgemental atmosphere that will offer you tools and insight to promote change in your life.

I am passionate about mindfulness, self-compassion, and integrating the mind and body, so I most frequently use CBT,
DBT
, polyvagal theory, and EMDR with my clients.
As a therapist, I enjoy working with women & men who have experienced anxiety, depression, major life transitions, and/or trauma. I am a firm believer that we all make sense in the context of what we've been through. I also believe that we can meet ourselves with compassion right where we are AND choose not to stay there. It's the honor of my life to walk alongside others as they reconcile what their experiences and what they believe to be true about themselves, the world, and/or God. I feel that we are designed for healing within community, so I also offer a rotation of groups to meet my clients' needs.

This world is a broken place, and all of us are affected by that brokenness. Often, we seek to escape or cover the pain by pretending we don't hurt and looking to relationships and addictive behaviors to cope. As we avoid what's really happening inside, we can find ourselves struggling with depression, anxiety, and many other mental health issues. I look forward to working with clients who are hoping for a deeper level of healing and who are ready to do the courageous work of facing the truth about their story and how it has affected them.

I am an Associate Licensed Counselor under the supervision of Glenn Hollingsworth; and as a counselor, it's my passion to come alongside individuals who seek to deepen their self-awareness and cultivate healthier long-lasting relationships. A foundational belief I hold is that we are created for relationships, and those relationships can shape or break us. With that being said, I believe the sacred relationship between client and therapist has the ability to offer profound opportunities for both healing and transformation. My primary goal in treatment is to make sure every person walks away from session feeling seen and heard.

You deserve to take care of yourself, to feel good about yourself and to believe that you matter. You deserve to learn ways to manage and deal with depression, anxiety, the past, addictive behaviors, negative self-talk, feelings of worthlessness, and/or overwhelming life issues so that they do not dominate and control your life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
DBT is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
