Past trauma, relational problems, depression, addiction, stress, and anxiety disorders are among many mental health conditions that I treat.
I work with a wide variety of people on an array of issues. For those who have never talked to a therapist or counselor before, I strive to help them feel comfortable and unconditionally accepted in this important encounter. Many have already had some therapy in the past, and I enjoy enhancing their experience through new and dynamic interventions, building on the individual's own strength and knowledge. Together we will identify changes that you want to make and discuss the best interventions to enhance these changes. I am an experienced therapist who can help facilitate insight, awareness, and skill building.

My specialties: depression, anxiety , and PTSD.
In counseling, we will explore life cycles and any strongholds getting in the way of achieving your present and future goals. Life as we know it has changed during the pandemic. Therefore, it's important to have a safe space to reflect and verbalize the changes you have experienced while identifying what you have learned about yourself in order to move forward in your journey.

While my practice includes a wide variety of issues, from mood disorders to couples therapy to self-injury, my specific areas of focus are eating disorders, obesity/weight loss, and anxiety disorders.
My practice serves women looking for modern, evidence-based therapy in a warm, open setting. Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy has a mountain of research behind it, supporting its use for a wide variety of psychological and interpersonal problems. For many of these problems, it is the treatment of choice. My approach to therapy is collaborative but directive; the therapy hour follows an agenda that you help to create based on your goals, and includes the psycho-education, challenging questions, and specific homework assignments that will help you to reach those goals.

As a therapist, I enjoy working with women & men who have experienced anxiety , depression, major life transitions, and/or trauma. I am a firm believer that we all make sense in the context of what we've been through. I also believe that we can meet ourselves with compassion right where we are AND choose not to stay there. It's the honor of my life to walk alongside others as they reconcile what their experiences and what they believe to be true about themselves, the world, and/or God. I feel that we are designed for healing within community, so I also offer a rotation of groups to meet my clients' needs.

I work with those who struggle with anxiety , depression or the effects of trauma, and also offer help to those with marriage/relationship challenges.
There is a reason that you are here. Perhaps all of a sudden you feel like you are teetering on the edge, barely hanging on. Perhaps now there are more bad days than good. There may be things you have been through that still affect you - if you have experienced traumatic events (or maybe a lifetime of trauma), there might be moments that are overwhelming to your body and emotions. Maybe in the midst of it all you have lost hope that things can ever be different. When you feel ready to reach out, I am ready to offer compassion and kindness to explore the things you feel stuck in. We heal best when we are not alone in our journey.

They are fundamentally linked to many problems, including PTSD, depression, substance abuse, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders.
Dr. Kline's practice provides a compassionate, relaxed, and informal, environment where people in emotional pain can focus on getting better without fear of judgment. With experience and expertise spanning cognitive, behavioral, emotional, neurophysiological, and sociocultural levels of analysis, he provides an integrative, individualized, non-pharmacological approach to treating mental illness. If you are already taking medication, psychotherapy can help make it more effective. He believes that a diagnosis can help inform treatment, but does not define you. Diagnostic categories often don't entirely fit a given individual, so treatment needs to reflect individual goals and needs.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
