When life feels heavy and hope seems far away, it helps to have someone who will hold your story with compassion and truth. That’s my heart as a therapist—to create space for what’s hard and speak gently into what’s possible. Clients often tell me that therapy with me feels honest, grounded, and deeply human. Whether you’re navigating addiction, self-harm, intrusive thoughts, or overwhelming emotions, I will take your need seriously—and hold hope when it feels hard to find. You don’t have to walk through this alone.

I truly believe we are intended to feel connected and loved by others. When this does not happen then it can create insecure attachments impacting multiple areas of your life. People often hold onto negative beliefs about themselves or the world that impact their relationship and daily life more than you may realize. I believe your past does not define you, but may describe a lot of symptoms you are experiencing. With an attachment-based framework and trauma-informed approach, I hold so much hope for those looking to find abundance in their lives.

My ideal clients are adults, often 45 and older, navigating grief, loss, or major life changes. They seek a safe, supportive space to share their story and someone to walk alongside them through difficult emotions. Many want relief from the weight of sadness, anxiety, or overwhelm and hope to build coping skills that make daily life easier. Their goals often include finding resilience, creating peace, and moving forward while honoring what they’ve been through. Most of all, they want to feel heard, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change and hope for the future.

Have you tried to reach out for help before but been discouraged when you were told it would be 6 weeks until an appointment? I know the feeling, and I never want that to be someone's experience with me. I can usually see you within 10 days, depending on your availability of course, but I am committed to getting you seen quickly because I know by the time you're here, you are ready to get started. If you've been struggling with not feeling like yourself, your next steps in life, difficult relationships and/or just feeling "stuck," I can help you.

Life can be tough to navigate alone. It’s a courageous choice to say yes to support. While scary and a bit unsettling the best gift awaits, deeper access to yourself. If you are experiencing a deep sense of loneliness, internal conflict, fear of confronting unsettling thoughts and emotions, or a low sense of self…please know you are not alone. A space to be seen and heard exists that allows you the freedom to honestly explore experiences, wounds, emotions and thoughts that you might have been convinced needed to stay hidden. I value your insight of yourself; your voice and collaboration is not only welcomed but joyfully anticipated.

There is hope for all! After being a teacher in public schools for 14 years and a director of a faith-based non-profit that helped troubled teens and parents, for 2 years, I decided to go back to school to become a licensed therapist. I enjoy "walking" beside of people who are hurting and struggling with stress, anxiety, trauma, relationships and/or depression. I work with adults, young adults, teens, and couples. I am a wife, mother, and grandmother trying to love others right where they are.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
