Mental health matters, and so do you.

Life is full of challenges, but being happy shouldn't be one of them! Whether your unhappiness is defined as an adolescent suffering from bullying, a spouse in a marriage that's lost its passion, a parent concerned with dysfunction in your family, or an individual struggling with grief, depression, or anxiety, I am here to help. I believe therapy is a place to help uncover your truths, not create them. We all have the tools necessary to be our best selves, sometimes we just a little guidance. While children are my main clientele, I have a heart for anyone who is ready to challenge their potential and unlock true happiness.

I believe that therapy is a collaborative partnership, between the therapist and client, that creates felt safety and fosters vulnerability and healing. My goal is to utilize the therapeutic process as a mirror that allows clients to see themselves, their histories, and their relationships with more depth, understanding, and clarity. I provide clients with a non-judgmental space to explore and process what they bring in with them to each session while helping them build emotional awareness and coping skills that they can carry with them into everyday life. I enjoy working with adults, teens, children, and families.

You ARE enough. The love and encouragement you did not receive from the people in your life was their failing, NOT yours. You ARE worthy. This is the time of your life where you are now in control.

Waitlist for new clients
My ideal client is one who is ready for change. I don't know many people who change when they are comfortable. By the time an individual or couple walks into a counseling office, they are usually in enough discomfort with their current reality that they are ready to work towards something new. I want to join with clients to identify what is not working, the source of their discomfort, and help set them up for and walk with them into successful healing, change and overall health.

My philosophy of counseling is that every human soul is unique and their experiences shape their view of the world. The process of individuation is essential in order for a person to become whole and fully developed as his, her, or their 'true self.' I believe empathy, collaboration and validation are key to the counseling relationship. The person as NOT the problem, rather, the problem is the problem. In the counseling relationship we will focus on strengths and mindfully and collaboratively awaken awareness of the authentic self to free clients of negative learned beliefs. The goal is for you to have a satisfactory life.

I have over 15 years of counseling experience working with adults and adolescents. My passion is helping people recover; whether from addiction, anxiety, depression, PTSD, codependency, self-image, or just experiencing a negative life event. I understand that parenting, relationship issues, life transitions, and grief can be difficult to navigate. I believe healing happens in community and no one should ever feel alone.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
