Everyone needs someone to talk to, someone who will really listen. When you find yourself at one of life's crossroads wondering which way to turn, it helps to have a safe place to talk and a safe person to hear you out. You will find that place here, along with an objective, non-judgmental, professional perspective that the most well-meaning friends and family may not provide. Together we can explore your options, choices, questions, hurts, and strengths in ways you might not have previously considered so that you can continue working through your wounds rather than living them out. Being seen, heard, and understood is healing.

Every person is unique because you bring your own history with you. While our past is always present, it doesn't have to dictate our future. Whether I am seeing an individual, couple or family, I know we bring with us the people who are part of our stories and it is a privilege to hear yours and understand what matters most in your life. I believe there is hope for changing patterns that may not be working, healing for relationships with others and ourselves and recovering from past and present emotional wounds. I would value your trust if you choose to work with me. Support is available.

Has the constant conflict in your marriage left you and your spouse feeling emotionally and mentally exhausted? Do you and/or your partner feel that, "It's always something!" Have you fought so much that you feel as though you don't have any fight left? Dysfunctional communication, misunderstandings, and arguments over nothing can leave a couple feeling hopeless. You're unsure of what to do and where to turn. I have been there and understand the struggle.

Life can feel overwhelming at times. You may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, substance use, or self-doubt. Perhaps you're always caring for others, leaving little space to care for yourself. Maybe past experiences feel too heavy to carry, or you're facing a significant life transition and don't know where to start. If this sounds familiar, know you don't have to go through it alone. Healing takes time, and asking for help is a decisive step.

You are going through a big change and feel "off." Perhaps you just had a baby, quit your dream job, or are going through a big identity shift (e.g., sexuality, gender, religious beliefs). You need somewhere to talk openly about these changes without judgement. You might be struggling with negative feelings about yourself. You may feel like you're trying to "catch up" or fearing that you might hurt others by putting yourself first. You'd like to understand yourself better, learn about what is "normal" in this process, and try to find a way to make these changes as smoothly as possible. Therapy is a great place to navigate this!

You don’t have to figure this out alone. Maybe you’re stuck in the same patterns - overthinking, people pleasing, sweeping things under the rug or questioning your self worth - and no matter how much you try to push through, you keep landing back in the same place. Maybe your relationship feels like a cycle of frustration, or your stress levels have hit the point where even small things feel overwhelming. Life doesn’t come with a guidebook for navigating all the big emotions, complicated relationships, or relentless pressure to have it all together. But that doesn’t mean you have to sort through it by yourself.

At the core of my work is the belief that inherent goodness and wisdom resides within every individual. Old wounds can sometimes give rise to parts of ourselves that carry pain or take on protective roles that disconnect us from our core self. I see my role as guiding clients to explore and engage with these parts, as they move towards restored trust and reconnection with their truest selves. When we turn toward our pain rather than away from it, and allow our pain to be witnessed in the presence of safety, our bodies remember what we are already born knowing: we heal when we feel seen and supported by another safe human.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
