I have experience working with parents grappling with their child or teen's behavior as well as anyone navigating an instance, season, or lifetime of loss.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am committed to collecting evidenced based "tools for my toolbox" to aid those grappling with finding the new normal after their worlds have shifted. I love helping people find language to describe their losses, often when there has been difficulty finding the words, inspiring people to find hope again, and facilitate the development of a plan to move forward in a way that both honors their experiences and embraces the future. I take an action-oriented, collaborative approach to therapy.

I have experience in dealing with depressive symptoms, grief, trauma and relationship issues.
Relationships can be hard. I enjoy working with adults and couples with a variety of concerns. By using the EFT model, the goal is to move from rigid patterns of engagement to openness and flexibility. We do this by untangling the "knots" of rigidity and finding the threads of connection in your relationship and with yourself. I will spend time with you, increasing your awareness about your emotional experience and how it impacts your relationships. I have a special interest in working with clients who wish to explore forgiveness as a means to improve their connections with others.

Life hits hard whether it’s intrusive memories, the loss of a loved one, or a struggle with your own sense of self-worth.
I help people notice why they do what they do and the patterns they’ve created in their relationships. I assist clients who are working through trauma, loss, difficult memories, and low self-worth. I work with multicultural clients as they attempt to make sense of their identity, create places of safety, and process racial trauma.

I enjoy working with teens and adults from all backgrounds who want help navigating anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem challenges, relationship struggles, and life transitions.
Life can feel overwhelming and frustrating at times. It is not always easy to figure things out on your own, but it is also not easy to reach out for help. Sometimes you just need someone to listen to you and be your sounding board. When you are ready, I am here to support you and explore what you are going through. Sometimes, therapy means learning practical tools to move forward. Other times, it simply means having a safe space to process your feelings and be heard.

I see adults, ages 18 and up, who struggle with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and other mental health struggles.
I hope to create a safe space for my clients to express themselves without fear of judgement. I recognize that a strong therapeutic relationship is the most powerful tool I have, and want to emulate Jesus Christ in how he met people where they were, offering love and compassion, while holding the truth of Scripture as the basis for all he did.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
