I can help you by facilitating a journey of emotional self-mastery by using a creative combination of transpersonal, Jungian, art , analytical, and person-centered therapy to help you learn to self-regulate.
I have a distinct passion for addressing the unique issues childhood family dysfunction and childhood trauma can cause in life. For instance, those who experienced emotional neglect, mental/emotional abuse, or other childhood traumas may be resilient and high-functioning in education and/or work/career-related pursuits. Yet, they may struggle to maintain healthy interpersonal relationships, which leaves them susceptible to higher risks of domestic & intimate partner violence, CPTSD, and unresolved trauma. This individual desires to heal and thrive.

In my own life I’m really into movies, music, art , and learning new things.
If life doesn’t make sense, or you’re stuck in some dark hole, I’d love to talk with you about it. Eating disorders, existential crises, trauma, suicidality, philosophical and/or spiritual concerns, and the growing practice of incorporating psychedelic medicine into mental health are some of my specialties. I’m equally passionate about all things related to depression, anxiety, relationships, and who you are as a person.

First of all, bravo for reaching out for help. The fact that you are doing a Google search for a therapist in your area is the first step to getting better, and it is a big one so congratulations on starting your journey! My counseling practice believes in the journey. This is why I named it "Wayfare Counseling". Wayfare is an Old English word that means "to go on a journey". This is what I believe counseling is all about. The journey is just as important as the recovery, and I would love to come alongside you in that process.

I am a Counselor who specializes in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I work to help individuals achieve their goals, improve unhealthy patterns, and/or work through past hurts in order to obtain overall happiness. I am currently self-employed under the supervision of Stephen Long, LPC-S. While I love working with individuals and families, my greatest passion is working with children and adolescents. Often times, children and adolescents come in with feelings of loneliness and anxiousness, communicating that they do not know how to make the feelings stop. I provide a safe space for them.

Does life sometimes feel overwhelming and stressful? Have you noticed when just one thing in life is out of balance it can spill over into other areas too? This imbalance affects our moods and behaviors, our relationships and interactions with others personally and professionally. This does not just affect adults, it's affecting our youth and our children. The good thing is there is hope and resolution you already have access to, but perhaps haven't been able to tap into.. just yet.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
