I have training in EMDR for the resolution of trauma and am an IASIS Certified Provider of Micro Current Neurofeedback, which has been shown to bring about significant improvements in symptoms of anxiety , depression and mild brain injury; I am also trained in Gottman Method Level I couples therapy and SYMBIS marriage assessment; .
Layers of grief, complicated family history, a genetic predisposition to mental illness, a traumatic experience, stressful changes -- or a combination of these things -- can be very difficult to manage or recover from by yourself. A seemingly unendurable situation or relationship can be overwhelming without support. If you've done all you know to do and you're still feeling stuck, I can help. I'd like to partner with you to find the clarity, wisdom, strength, comfort and supports you need to feel better about yourself and your relationships -- and to enjoy your life more.

I work with individuals struggling with anxiety , anger, codependency, communication, depression, and crises of faith issues and trauma.
It has been said that: "God uses our deepest pain as a launchpad for our highest calling". However, a lot of the times we become immobilized by the pains we have endured. My goal in counseling is to remind believers and non-believers that there is hope past the pain, shame, and doubt they are experiencing; through modalities of individual, couples, family and pre-marital counseling.Do not let shame and doubt rule over you any longer but instead gain insight and authenticity as you understand your Creator, your process and yourself more fully.

Many people believe therapy is a quick fix, or more accurately that a therapist can “fix” us or our problems. In reality, therapy is a process that can take time, but most importantly, hard work. Have you struggled with anxiety , depression, or maintaining social connections? Do you need to repair or restore your marriage? Take first steps in preparing for marriage? Learn how to connect as a family? Find a new normal after divorce? Heal from a loss? Navigate the waters of being a teenager and managing your parents and teacher's expectations? As a therapist with over 18 years of experience, I am excited to help you begin.

Life can be hard! If you are struggling with challenges such as: marriage or relationship issues, infidelity, anxiety , depression, divorce, job loss, grief, or low self-esteem maybe it is time to do something different. If your current efforts to deal with relationships, emotions, and life's challenges just aren't working, it is probably time to get some help. Maybe you're unsure if counseling really works. Counseling is no "magic pill" that instantly fixes your problems! However, it does help many people change, heal, and improve their quality of life.

For the past 7 years I have helped women and young adults struggling with anxiety , stress, and relationships by increasing insight, exploring underlying issues and giving you tangible skills to use outside of sessions to help make life feel more manageable.
ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS! It's tough being a human sometimes. If overthinking was a sport, you'd always win first place. Those first place medals would include: predicting the future, thinking about the worst possible outcomes, or having to be in control of every aspect of your life. Maybe you're just not feeling that "self love" people go on about, but want to be able to show yourself the love and compassion you deserve. Maybe you just need someone to process life with who isn't your best friend. Because let's face it, life can be hard! I want you to know, I can help and things can get better!

I believe that the first step in effecting positive change in your life begins with building self-awareness. So often, avoiding issues is the easier and more attractive option, but I firmly believe that ignorance is not bliss. As a therapist, my job is to provide a safe and judgement-free space for you to learn more about yourself in order to attain sustainable change. If you are experiencing things like issues in your relationships, loneliness, depression, anxiety , grief and loss, low self-esteem -- I can help you.

I am trained in and have experience working with clients struggling with addiction, anxiety , depression, grief, and trauma.
One of the first things I tell clients who struggle with mental health disorders or overwhelming stress is that in today's society, with all the turmoil and uncertainty we face, it is a natural and normal reaction to be struggling mentally. While there is still a large stigma towards mental health and therapy I believe a great way to combat this is by understanding that it is not weakness to seek help, it in fact takes great strength to reach out to someone and admit that we cannot do this on our own.

I work with many different issues like depression, anxiety and anger management.
Do you struggle with thoughts of "What's wrong with me?" or "Why can't I just stop ?" Well, we can talk through those questions and look into your core beliefs that may be setting you up for failure. Sometimes we believe the lies that we heard from others through out our life. There are ways to work through the lies and find the truths you can stand on to move forward.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
