I consider it a great honor to walk with you in your journey. I approach therapy and counseling through a trauma-informed, attachment based lens. Prior to pursuing a career in counseling, I spent 25 years in the field of physical therapy working with those suffering from physical pain. This previous experience in working with those suffering physically has given me insight into how our emotional and physical well-being are two sides of the same coin. Because of this experience, I strive to approach counseling from a holistic perspective paying close attention to the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of each person.

I read this simple sentence several years ago: You have survived 100% of your worst days. It’s my go-to reminder that we are all built for survival. I believe each individual holds within them a unique set of strengths and skills to help navigate life and all its challenges. During times of change, stress, or crisis, we often feel unable to access and use the tools that could help us move forward. Issues like depression or anxiety can leave us feeling powerless. My passion is helping people of all ages and backgrounds discover and utilize the power deep within them so they can achieve their goals.

The challenges and difficulties of life can cause a person to feel defeated, hurt, and overwhelmed. Having no one to understand the heartache, frustration, and worries is tiring. Sometimes the only way to get through life is to hide away in a safe space while struggling to make it through another day. That safe space has caused you to feel trapped and miserable in a dark place, wondering what your purpose for living is. You are tired of feeling judged and not heard when you have taken the risk to share your story with others. Instead, you just wish someone would stop and listen without judgement to your story and offer some hope.

Sometimes life experiences leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck or disconnected. Many people seek therapy not because something is "wrong" with them, but because they have been carrying too much for too long. Emotional pain is often shaped by individual experiences, relationships, family roles, cultural expectations, and societal pressures. When emotions become overwhelming, it can feel as though we've lost clarity or a sense of agency. Without the right support and tools, moving forward can feel exhausting or impossible, especially when challenges show up in our closest relationships.

Life is full of challenges, but being happy shouldn't be one of them! Whether your unhappiness is defined as an adolescent suffering from bullying, a spouse in a marriage that's lost its passion, a parent concerned with dysfunction in your family, or an individual struggling with grief, depression, or anxiety, I am here to help. I believe therapy is a place to help uncover your truths, not create them. We all have the tools necessary to be our best selves, sometimes we just a little guidance. While couples are my main clientele, I have a heart for anyone who is ready to tend to their roots and grow into what's next.

Pivoting is a choice. If you’re here, you are ready to revamp your direction. At Pivoting with Purpose, I walk with you through the "in-between." I support moms across the full spectrum of motherhood—from the vulnerable perinatal and postpartum months to the "quiet house" transition after the kids have grown. I also help couples navigate life’s natural ebbs and flows and provide a steady space for those facing the heavy uncertainty of grief. Whether you are closing a chapter or starting a new one, you don’t have to navigate the shift alone. Let’s work together to ensure your next move is made with intention and support.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
