Do you feel stuck in a pattern of undesired behaviors? Certified in EMDR therapy, my approach is to move from the oversimplification of behavioral plans/coping strategies to clients learning to lead their lives with purpose. This can be done by clients exploring parts of themselves that may seem powerless to undesired behaviors. Additionally, I look beyond diagnoses to focus on neurobiology and integration of emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical experiences.

Counseling has been defined as "helping others to help themselves". Our journey in life often takes unexpected and unwanted twists and turns. Sometimes a little help is all that's needed to navigate the obstacles and regain our path. It would be my honor to help you to live the life you desire. Help comes through an offer of a warm, inviting environment with a compassionate, nonjudgmental listener. My role is not to tell you what to do or what to think but to help and to guide. I would love the opportunity to talk with you to assist you on your personal journey.

Are you a woman or mother who’s ready to reconnect with herself after years of caring for everyone else. Are you feeling overwhelmed, disorganized, or facing new parenting challenges while trying to find balance between work, home, and personal growth. Are you tired of just getting by and want to feel grounded, confident, and in control again, whether that means building better boundaries, staying consistent on your wellness journey, or rediscovering your sense of purpose? Let’s face it ...motherhood is hard! As a wife and mother of four, I understand the fatigue, frustration, and anxiety that come with juggling it all.

My ideal clients are individuals who I can build a strong rapport and trust with. It is important for every client to feel that they are working not only on the right issues, but with the right person. I am able to work with teenagers up to senior adults. I work with each client to determine what issues they are facing, what their goals are, and what strategies will work best to get them there. Collaboration, problem solving, empathy and respect for your agency as a person are the cornerstone of my philosophy. If you have the desire for change, then change is possible- and I would be honored to be a part of that process.

What is the most effective treatment for oppositional defiant disorder?
The treatment of Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) will involve multiple approaches designed to help both the youngster and their parents, sometimes including medication. A therapist will help a child learn ways to regulate their emotions, curb their impulsiveness, and counteract anger, defiance, and disruption, while showing parents ways to bring these lessons into their home. A technique designed for children with conditions like ODD, known as Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS), may also be used. CPS addresses a child’s concerns and rewards appropriate responses while discouraging harsh punishment or criticism.

How does treatment for oppositional defiant disorder work?
Treatment for ODD addresses the issues underlying a child’s defiance and disruption, the emotional regulation and impulse-control skills they lack, and the way adults respond to them. ODD therapy is based on the idea that children with the disorder understand the difference between right and wrong, that they want to behave well, and that, with help, they can. By responding to the child with empathy instead of harsh criticism, ignoring nonviolent behaviors, and rewarding positive actions, a therapist, and the other adults in a child’s life, can help children improve their behavior.

How long does therapy for oppositional defiant disorder take?
Therapy for oppositional defiant disorder is not a short-term undertaking. Depending on the severity of a child’s symptoms, their age, the presence of other conditions like ADHD, anxiety or a mood disorder, and their family dynamic, it can take months before improvement is noted. The cooperation of parents and teachers is crucial, because the skills learned in therapy must be practiced in real-world situations, with all their potential triggers.

Does oppositional defiant disorder go away?
ODD can remit following treatment. ODD is often diagnosed in nursery school, and early intervention is essential for a positive prognosis. In two-thirds of children, according to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, symptoms resolve within three years.
