Hello, my name is Kia Izzard. I’m a licensed clinical social worker. I’ve been a social worker for over 20 years. I assist clients in increasing their insight and awareness of their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. I delve into what’s going on presently. I listen and help them to reflect and feel validated. I don’t subscribe to any one therapeutic modality other than telling your story, which I do with narrative therapy techniques. I believe that those who are marginalized, those who experience trauma, or those who feel like they don’t have a voice, can benefit from narrative therapy techniques.
Telling their narrative allows the person to tell their story, for them to be heard. I assist people with telling their stories. I do this by asking them questions to help them tell their story. I work with people from the ages of 16 and above, and I work with individuals and couples.
My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe space for people to be open and honest, without fear or judgment. I believe the client-therapist relationship is very important in building a strong foundation for therapeutic success.
