Hello! My name is Afiya Burson and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have a Masters in Clinical Psychology with a Counseling Specialization and a Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision. I have worked with diverse clients in Atlanta, DC, and Chicago. I primarily work with adults dealing with depression and anxiety. However, I have experience with a wide range of diagnoses and problems. If you are experiencing challenges due or just need someone to talk to I am here to help.
I am very person-centered in my style, which means our sessions will be guided by you, the client. I believe in a collaborative approach as well and integrating techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotion- Focused Therapy and Strength Based Therapy.
With each session my goal is to build a working relationship with one another. I want you to feel safe as my client and empowered to take steps towards your goals. So feel free to reach out if you want to have a consultation or just want to know more about me.
