Asking for help can be tough. Most people are taught at a young age to be independent, strong and self-sufficient. Yet there are times when life can be overwhelming. Events or life situations may leave you feeling confused, troubled, depressed and unsure of how to make things better. It might be your intimate relationships, family, work, school or many other challenges. I use an emotional focused approach to help couples gain strength and restore intimacy in their relationships. I also use a cognitive behavioral approach to therapy that is highly effective in helping individuals with grief and loss, anger, depression, trauma and addictions.

Growth and healing are challenging and worthwhile pursuits. My desire is to provide a safe space for self-discovery and healing. As moments of loss, stress and conflict occur, I support children and families in restoration and renewal. I love to help children (ages 3+) discover their strengths, learn how to face challenges and strengthen their relationships through a play therapy approach. I also use Theraplay® principles to restore relationships between parents/caregivers and their child. Theraplay is particularly effective with adopted children or with children who have experienced relational disruptions.

People should live happier, healthier lives. That is what all well-adjusted people want. My focus is on helping people achieve these and other goals. Everyone at one time or another goes through tough times. Some people go through them on their own, but sometimes it takes a professional, unbiased perspective to help people see clearly. People are the result of both nature (inherited traits) and nurture (environment) which form lenses through which we perceive the world. Through life experience, lenses can become scratched or cloudy. Let's make them clear again, together!

I have been trained by premier trainers in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and Enneagram Personality Typing System. EMDR is a wonderful protocol that takes incidents that a person encounters that might "keep them stuck" which leads to depression, anxiety, health issues, and even addiction. The Enneagram is an ancient personality typing system that helps people understand who they are and what makes them tick. Learning how you relate to others and others to you can set you on a new path in life with freedom to be who you were made to be...unapologetically.

My approach to therapy can best be described as holistic, integrative and systemic. Working from these perspectives my focus is on treating the whole person within the context of the systems in which he or she is a part of. I approach treatment from the perspective that everything is connected and provides us with important information about how we think, feel and act.
