Wherever you are in your life, I’d love to get to know you and see what healing we can accomplish together. I am constantly amazed by the resourcefulness that clients have used to survive through the hardest parts of their lives. Oftentimes, making it through also means that we have developed parts of ourselves that are tough enough to cause us problems we can’t solve alone. I see my job as a therapist as being that other person who helps you create a safe and curious space to heal the frustrations between those parts that feel stuck and the parts that help you thrive.

I find that my skill and experience are very helpful to people who have survived trauma. I work often with folks who are burdened with emotional, physical, and sexually traumatic histories. I also welcome you to contact me if you are questioning your gender identity. I have assisted many people move through the difficult process of confirming their internal gender identity with the labels attached at birth. I also welcome you to come and chat if you are exploring an alternative family structure such as polyamory.

Supportive, non-judgmental and curious relationship is the key to good therapy. What do you deeply want and need? What's next for you in improving your overall satisfaction with life? I hope we can discover strengths you never knew you had, uncover your profoundest desires for your future and make a plan to get there. Whether that includes resolution of trauma, greater self-understanding, achieving healthy relationships, help with day to day stressors and/or relief from depression or anxiety, I'd like to collaborate to create the change you want.

This is your time. Let's make it what you need it to be. There are so many things that can get in the way of achieving and maintaining our own state of well-being, like life transitions, grief/loss, relationship stress, childhood trauma, etc. I appreciate the opportunity to work and learn with you to address any issues that may be impacting your ability to live your life with intention and fulfillment. I often use solution-focused approaches based in CBT, DBT, MI, and ACT, and hope to connect you with strategies for day-to-day coping, as well as explore deeper patterns impacting overall well-being for intrinsic, lasting change.

Are you overwhelmed and looking for answers, but just don't know where to begin? Every individual has a story; so do families and communities. As we compile these accounts, we realize that the fragments form a collage; not the entire picture, but pieces which symbolize the possibility for a whole. Therapy can be a safe space for exploring and integrating the past in an effort to become more present. You are the expert in your own life experiences and I can be your partner in honoring that narrative.

Do you find yourself in a position where you are constantly battling yourself? Do you question who you are, what you need, and how you can possibly feel well? Are you constantly reminded by the past so much that a future of peace seems unimaginable? Or maybe you are concerned about your child. You do your best but sometimes your best just doesn’t seem good enough. Day to day life may be becoming unmanageable.

Connection is foundational to the human experience. How we connect with ourselves and with those around us directly impacts how we walk through the world. I want to walk alongside you in a way that holds space to be curious about what may be getting in the way of connection. Possibly shame, trauma, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, poor communication ect. Furthermore, I want to help facilitate a move toward healing and restoration within ourselves and within our communities.

I thrive on helping others heal and get to where they want to be in life. I feel that people usually come to therapy because something is not working in their life and change needs to happen but they are not sure how. I am passionate about my work and strive to help others every day. I am flexible with my approach as we are all different and I will follow your lead with what works best for you. I think that humor and connection are very important in a therapeutic relationship so that we can laugh and cry and I am able to push you at times to help you reach your goals.

I believe we are all doing the best we can with what we have. Sometimes what we have is deep pain, buried (or very alive) trauma, and a sense that we are failing. What gets forgotten is all the strength that has gotten us as far as we are! In my work with clients, we work to discover what is driving the choices we make and intentionally discover healing and strength. We empower through choice, acceptance, and self-compassion. I believe when we transform what we have, we move to something better. My primary experience is working with trauma, survivors of domestic violence, assault, and childhood abuse.

Hi my name is Lida Running Crane and I have recently transitioned to private practice after being a clinician at a local agency working primarily with our local urban Indigenous community for just short of nine years. I subsequently co-founded Aitapissko Counseling Collective LLC, the shared professional home in which my colleagues and I continue to offer quality mental health and addiction counseling to our local community. I earned my masters in counseling from the University of Montana in 2016 with my NCC, became an LCPC in 2018, and an LAC in 2020.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?

In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.

How much does therapy cost with insurance?

The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.

What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?

An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.

Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?

It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.

What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?

HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.

What is a Superbill?

A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.

Does insurance cover Online therapy?

Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.

Does insurance cover Group therapy?

Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.

Does insurance cover Couples therapy?

Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer Employee Assistance Plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy.

What is an Employee Assistance Plan (EAP)?

Employee Assistance Plans are purchased by employers for the benefit of their employees. EAPs typically assist employees with referrals and may also provide the first few sessions of therapy free of charge, with the patient's regular health insurance kicking in after those initial sessions. EAP benefits often apply to all types of therapy without the need for a medical diagnosis, making it easier to access couples therapy, therapy for life transitions, and other non-medical counseling. Just as with standard health insurance, clients should always check that a provider accepts their EAP benefits before scheduling.
