Therapy can be weird. It can be uncomfortable to open up to a stranger about your thoughts, feelings, traumatic memories, and expose the aspects of you that are unhealthy. Therapy can also be a space where you allow yourself to be fully known, fully valued, and more clearly understood. My goal is to create an environment where you can more fully understand yourself, accept yourself, and allow yourself to grow in order to live an exciting and fulfilling life. I most often work with people who have experienced complex trauma, and struggle with addictive or out-of-control patterns as a result.
I am especially skilled at helping clients with trauma or PTSD by using EMDR and IFS. I strongly believe in the value of unconditional positive regard for my clients, and work to help my clients feel validated, respected, and cared for. I also believe that therapy can be an incredible catalyst for change, and a life changing experience.
Hope is an integral part of counseling, and I encourage the theme of hope throughout the therapeutic process. I also believe that humor is an essential part of coping with difficulties in life, and utilize humor throughout my sessions whenever appropriate.
