I am a gender therapist, serving the transgender & gender fluid community exclusively. I can support you through the SRS process or any transition you desire to make in your life.

Many people come to me wondering why they're unhappy, anxious, or unable to find fulfillment. The problem may seem obvious but a solution impossible. The same painful experiences repeat themselves, but why? And how to change them? If we meet, I will try to understand you as fully as I can and to help you come to grips with your problems. At some point we all struggle to adjustment to life's changes; it's normal to feel stuck and I believe people have what it takes to adjust. Couples often come to me for help in distress and are confused about how or why their relationship has derailed. I am dedicated to helping people build stronger; more intimate relationships and I use several modalities when attempting to help couples in distress. A high percentage of my caseload at any given time is comprised of couples.

Trained at UC Davis Medical Center to treat young children who have experienced trauma or behavioral difficulties. Additional training from the Renfrew Center in the treatment of eating disorders provides a unique combination for helping young children and their families with eating issues or obesity. A dissertation on binge eating provides an understanding for those who have emotional eating problems. Experience with addiction and dual diagnosis was earned while working with Contra Costa County treatment programs. Other experience includes treating children and adults who have suffered from maltreatment, domestic violence, depression, grief, and or eating disorders.

I work with children, adolescents, and families. My orientation is predominately psychodynamic. However, I tailor my approach to the individual needs of the client. In my work with children, I take a child-centered approach, using modalities such as play or talk therapy to help the child express his or her feelings and experiences that are often difficult to put into words.

My perspective embraces self-awareness as one of the main instruments in helping free up trauma. Fuller awareness removes the fear of the unknown, gives us distance from distress and the ability to disconnect from automatic behaviors that perpetuate negative reactions and feelings. In the words of international trauma experts “its teaching our clients how to focus on new stimuli they normally might not have noticed...” with “conscious inhibition of old responses”(Jana Fisher and Pat Ogden, March 2011). The intricacies of our humanness prevents freedom from all depression, anxiety, neurosis and traumatic bodily sensations. Yet.....

Dr. Paul Kramer, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, started a group practice to expand services in the East Bay. Paul earned a Master's and a Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University. He has served in multiple settings to include 12 years in the US Army. Paul is Passionate about working with couples in various domains to include groups, workshops, and in marital therapy. Paul uses an eclectic approach when working with couples, leaning on Imago Relationship Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Interventions, and Systems Theory. He specializes in working with people who have experienced various forms of trauma.

I am a clinical psychologist who has 14 years of direct clinical experience working directly with individuals, couples and families who grapple with a variety of concerns relating to but not limited to interpersonal concerns, grief/bereavement, depression, anxiety, chronic worry, gender identity related issues/concerns, work related concerns, and change and transition.

Providing clinical counseling for over 25 years, I've assisted survivors with all forms of trauma, anxiety and stress disorders. My practice has included working with military members and families as well as providing counseling to many Spanish speaking Latino populations . My specialties range from employee assistance for work related stress, issues of addiction to all substances including gambling and also working with the trauma of immigration. I can also provide evaluations for immigration hearings.

I work with individuals who are having relationship difficulties, including being in a relationship " too good to leave, too bad to stay"; and with individual adults who have anxiety, depression and self esteem issues.
