I am trained in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), and Gottman Method.
My approach is relational, the relationship that you and I build will be so important in the work that we do together. Building a healthy therapeutic bond allows us to explore attachment, trauma, current stressors, interpersonal relationships, your sense of self etc. In building safety with each other, it allows tremendous opportunities for exploration and self-discovery. I try to cultivate an environment that is non-judgmental and person-centered to help foster space and safety for my clients.

When trauma or stressors occur in life, we often become split off, or dissociated from the core self. Our core self, also known as the authentic self, is one that resides fully and naturally within all of us. It is place where we find a deep sense of compassion for ourselves and others, a place filled with creativity, wisdom, curiosity, and a sense of ease.

Ever feel like you're on the outside looking in? Maybe it's your gender, your weight, your sexual orientation, your race, your spiritual beliefs, your past experiences... Somehow you just don't fit. You tell yourself if you could find the right person, or look a certain way, or just forget about what happened to you, you'd break through. Instead, all these reasons pile up and separate you from the life you "should" be living. Sound familiar? I work with clients every day who struggle to connect, and I see how the loneliness eats at them. They're so desperate for change, but they feel trapped by old patterns.

I invite you to experience a cooperative therapy relationship in which you have the freedom to be yourself, to be imperfect, to laugh, and to evolve. Do you look like you have it all together, but inside, you struggle to enjoy life? Despite your best efforts at change, do you feel stuck? People who reach out to me are high achieving and high functioning adults often with successful careers, families, and/or social lives. Despite their accomplishments, however, they struggle privately with emotional concerns including anxiety, grief, self-doubt, unresolved trauma, perfectionism, chronic pain, and relationship problems.

I help those who are tired of feeling trapped, constantly living a step away from what they really need. If you want to reclaim your peace, rebuild your confidence, or feel like yourself again, reach out. My clients find renewed hope as they face strong feelings in a safe way, uncovering both hidden issues and hidden strengths. Due to low availability, I limit new cases to those with issues where I’ve brought the best results. Trauma survivors (both women and men) and women, specifically, who are dealing with other issues such as anxiety, mood, chronic pain, or the effects of narcissistic abuse.

AEDP Therapists

Who is AEDP therapy for?

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is for adults who have experienced emotional pain in the past that, because it has not been adequately addressed and processed, interferes with current functioning. The problems might manifest in a number of different ways, from excessive anger to relationship difficulties to PTSD to eating disorders, poor self-esteem, and depression. They may also be accompanied by physiological symptoms. AEDP helps people accept and digest challenging emotional experiences.

Why do people need AEDP?

People need AEDP as a way to manage distressing emotions—including anger, shame, and guilt—that in some way hamper the ability to function and form satisfying relationships in the present. The therapist-client relationship is believed to provide corrective emotional and relational experiences that facilitate positive changes in brain function, forge pathways for processing traumatic experiences, and allow resolution of emotional pain.

What happens in AEDP therapy?

Once individuals have established a strong bond with the AEDP therapist and the therapist has established a safe and secure environment, clients are encouraged to explore their most painful emotional experiences. They may be asked to pay attention to disquieting body sensations as well as to psychological discomfort. Individuals learn how to process emotions, rather than avoid them. Through the strength of the therapist-client bond, each session is intended to provide a powerful positive experience for individuals, enabling growth.

What problems does AEDP treat?

AEDP is intended to treat the unprocessed emotional pain caused by earlier distressing experiences, which commonly includes behavioral avoidance of current situations and experiences for fear that they will reactivate painful feelings. Emotional pain and avoidant behavior play a role in a wide array of mental health conditions, which is why AEDP is applied to the treatment of a range of disorders including depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship difficulties, and eating disorders.
