It is exciting, you are taking steps to find support. My expertise comes from over 20 years working with individuals, couples and families experiencing the effects of attachment trauma. The hallmark of trauma is the loss of basic trust. Our mind-body connection is powerful. In the short-term, it finds the quickest route to safety. Yet, overtime the protection it affords can become a pattern that adversely affects our well-being. I am passionate about helping individuals in the process of restoring their capacity to trust and dissolve the fear that leads to harmful advance or retreat, and causes relational anxiety and depression.

This world can leave us feeling powerless and without control. But I believe we have more power left to be uncovered. I work with adults, intimate partners, and adolescents to meet them where they are to collaborate, with the mission to assist in shedding light on their journeys towards awareness, acceptance, and change they want. I am passionate about working with complex trauma/PTSD, interpersonal relationship issues, anxiety, depression, people-pleasing, perfectionism, neurodivergence, self-confidence, grief, and multicultural issues that arise within AAPI, BIPOC, immigrant, LGBTQIA+, and multi-racial/ethnic communities.

If you find yourself overwhelmed, stressed, reactive, burdened or disconnected from yourself and others, you are in the right place. Maybe perfectionism and a harsh inner critic is keeping you from feeling comfortable in your body and relationships. Maybe you are turning toward food, media or substances to soothe yourself. If this is you, I can help you move toward healing. I help people navigate the complicated aspects of being human. My hope is that during our work together you will heal from past traumas, disconnection and pain and will leave your work with me feeling more secure, peaceful and clear about who you are.

My ideal client is a person who doesn't want to give up on him/her/themself and the dream of a fulfilling life. I support clients to know the truth: they deserve love and success no matter what wounds they've experienced. I help people uncover the deep wisdom and restorative potential living within them. I do this gently in the present moment by reconnecting clients with healing, embodied emotional experience in safe connection with me. This gets vitality and intuition moving again I support people to take responsibility (but not blame) in any life/work/relationship upset because this is what works!

AEDP, an empathic and engaged approach to therapy fosters new and healing emotional and relational experiences.
I've been helping individuals and couples transform their lives for over 25 years and am the author of two books, Living Like You Mean It and Loving Like You Mean It. My overall objective is to help you experience meaningful change and achieve your goals in the least amount of time needed. Unlike more traditional approaches that focus primarily on talking, I help you have new emotional experiences that enable you to truly resolve core issues, move forward unencumbered, and, ultimately, have the life and relationships you really want.

I often incorporate accelerated experiential dynamic psychotherapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mind-body connections to address the complexities of each individual and their struggles.
How do you feel about seeking help, especially for your mental and emotional health? Do you think it’s a sign of weakness? As a psychologist, I see it as a sign of strength, courage, self-awareness and maturity. I work with my clients to identify what they’re needing in order for them to improve their lives. I help people find the ways to change and experience personal growth and healing. I support my clients as they discover new aspects of themselves, which can be a challenging but rewarding process.

AEDP Therapists

Who is AEDP therapy for?

Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) is for adults who have experienced emotional pain in the past that, because it has not been adequately addressed and processed, interferes with current functioning. The problems might manifest in a number of different ways, from excessive anger to relationship difficulties to PTSD to eating disorders, poor self-esteem, and depression. They may also be accompanied by physiological symptoms. AEDP helps people accept and digest challenging emotional experiences.

Why do people need AEDP?

People need AEDP as a way to manage distressing emotions—including anger, shame, and guilt—that in some way hamper the ability to function and form satisfying relationships in the present. The therapist-client relationship is believed to provide corrective emotional and relational experiences that facilitate positive changes in brain function, forge pathways for processing traumatic experiences, and allow resolution of emotional pain.

What happens in AEDP therapy?

Once individuals have established a strong bond with the AEDP therapist and the therapist has established a safe and secure environment, clients are encouraged to explore their most painful emotional experiences. They may be asked to pay attention to disquieting body sensations as well as to psychological discomfort. Individuals learn how to process emotions, rather than avoid them. Through the strength of the therapist-client bond, each session is intended to provide a powerful positive experience for individuals, enabling growth.

What problems does AEDP treat?

AEDP is intended to treat the unprocessed emotional pain caused by earlier distressing experiences, which commonly includes behavioral avoidance of current situations and experiences for fear that they will reactivate painful feelings. Emotional pain and avoidant behavior play a role in a wide array of mental health conditions, which is why AEDP is applied to the treatment of a range of disorders including depression, anxiety, PTSD, relationship difficulties, and eating disorders.
