Welcome, I am Marie A Goines, LICSW, (she/her)! I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Seattle, Washington. I provide individualized, culturally-appropriate trauma-focused services to adults and teens. I help clients to accept themselves while reframing and understanding their experiences, learning coping skills and discovering new ways of interacting with their worlds.

My desire is to collaborate with clients on navigating their journey through life, relationships, and with themselves. I work with all identities and partnerships and affirm LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and all marginalized communities. I work with individuals, couples, and families including children, adolescents, and young adults, who are experiencing a variety of stressors and mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, stress, relational conflict, and life transitions.

Welcome everyone! I work with all adults and adolescents and specialize in working with LGBTQIA+ folks. My specialties include depression, anxiety, trauma, physical & emotional abuse, identity development, internalized oppression (of all forms), substance abuse and stress management. I am attuned to how sensitive our social identities contribute to how we feel, and I believe we all have a unique and personal story to tell. It is my role to bring hope, compassion, respect & knowledge to our time together.

As we enter this spring time, it is full of new beginnings through the joy of the sunshine coming through the great pacific northwest and newness blooming outside and within us. I am a psychotherapist that works primarily with clients that experience anxiety and depressive signs and symptoms. In my approach, I provide support in identifying the triggers that impact the anxiety to fester and how to reverse the depression by using a cognitive behavioral therapy approach.

I am a Seattle-based therapist who believes that healing our internal worlds leads us to freedom. Freedom from shame cycles, from abusive patterns, and toxic relationships. I believe that you are the best expert on your own life and am here to help unravel maladaptive thoughts and behaviors that have helped you survive life up until now, to access your inner expert. I work collaboratively to create an individualized treatment plan that works for your specific needs. Our relationships with loved ones have such an impact on our emotional wellbeing, which is why I’m passionate about helping facilitate communication and growth within couples and families. Trying to speak your mind can be vulnerable, and my goal is to be able to help individuals verbalize their needs so that they can navigate their emotions with the people surrounding them. I enjoy working with folks who want to reestablish connection and feelings of belonging with each other, even when working through painful histories.

I lead with an open heart when sharing space with folks and welcome the vastness of the human experience and all that comes with it: identity exploring, generative conflict, and reflective self-analysis. I enjoy working with folks navigating transitions, moral injury (burnout), and complex trauma. When working with me, you can expect transparency and direct communication, which contribute to my therapeutic approach including client-led conversations, collaborative goal setting, community-centric applications, trauma-informed care, and a liberation-focused lens.

The daily struggles of life, loss, relationships, and health are real. But we are not supposed to face them alone. We may not choose the pain that comes our way, but we can choose how we respond. Inner peace and strength are gifts from God — gifts that are within our reach. I will partner with you in your journey toward healing, providing the resources and space you need to apply faith and skill in everyday life.

As a 2nd gen Asian-American born to immigrant parents, my cultural identity has been one of depth and confusion. Holding values from my parent’s home countries, mixed with my American values; it has widened my understanding of mental health from a cultural lens. I'd like to provide a space for those exploring their identities and culture and how it has played a part in your upbringing and development. I understand family values are important, but sometimes can conflict with our own individual goals and experiences. In the space, I hope you can feel comfortable to casually show up as you are. I am an intermediate ABCantonese speaker.
