The collective grief of the pandemic has left us facing anxiety and pain we may have already been managing before, but it's now magnified by the loss of so much of what we remember having. Emerging feelings can include grief, depression, relationship issues, parenting stress, and even anger. This can leave us feeling isolated and alone as we struggle to wade through the difficulties of our new every day.
As an interpersonal therapist, we work together to find patterns of relating to others, which sometimes limits the intimacy and connection we would like in our lives. Developing a new kind of insight that includes past and present gives us the freedom to reimagine what might be possible.
I am a supervisor at the W.A. White Institute of Psychoanalysis and teach on topics of gender and sexuality. Relationships, transitions, grief, race, gender, sexual identity, and sexual trauma are all areas of particular interest. We are a collection of our experiences, and therapy can help us integrate parts of ourselves so we feel a sense of wholeness.
