Welcome to my page! My name is Emma Coro, I am a therapist working with individuals who need support throughout life's challenges, as well as with women and families throughout the precious journey of motherhood. Understanding that each of us experiences life differently. For women, every pregnancy is different and can come with different challenges. Life is an adventure- and sometimes be a bit rocky and scary, it's normal to become overwhelmed with its demands at times. I enjoy working with adults, teens and children experiencing anxiety and depression. I want to help you gain the coping skills and confidence for a well lived life!

I work with kids, teens, adults and families struggling to love themselves. I am here to support you in processing pain and removing the shell around your heart that is preventing you from being understood by those around you. If you want to learn how to cope with your daily frustrations, behaviors, and emotional blocks in a solution-focused and creative way, I can help! Focusing on you and how we can better suit you and your needs is my goal. With younger kids, I like to use play as a form of therapy and a way to form a connection with them.

I offer my expertise as a licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, clinical Art Therapist and Transpersonal Psychology Counselor to assist in the healing process to anyone who may be experiencing and suffering from various mental health issues such as relational problems, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, trauma, addiction, and life transitions. As a therapist, I adapt to you individually as a client, depending on your needs, and together we will create the best treatment plan to help you reach your goals. I believe strongly in applying a holistic perspective addressing your whole person not just the bits and pieces of you.

Some things we are incapable of seeing on our own. It can take a crisis to find hope and empower us again. I know, firsthand, that there is a way through dark times. I am person-centered at heart, and I have genuine empathy and unconditional positive regard for the individuals I work with. I believe the core of human existence is relational, and we thrive with positive connection in a validating environment. My goal as your therapist is to meet you where you are on your journey and help you through the changes needed to meet your goals, while promoting hope and wellness. My passion in the therapy field began with my interest in substance abuse/addictions where I have over 20 years of experience working amongst diverse populations in individual, group and family settings to promote healthy coping and lifestyle changes with children, adolescents and adults. I am licensed in Nevada with 8 years of professional work experience in helping clients coping with stress, depression, anxiety, loss/grief, PTSD/trauma, relationship & attachment issues, marital/family of origin issues and abandonment, abuse and neglect.

Brainwaves & Counseling specializes in enhancing the brain and mind collectively! We believe the combination of neurofeedback and counseling services provides a positive and efficient result to our clients. Neurofeedback is a safe, non-invasive brain training procedure which allows client to self regulate their physiology and self regulate their symptoms. Our clients become aware of what area(s) of the Brain need training. The client is watching a movie, playing brain games or listening to music; while the training is in progress; the clinician relates the results to clients behavior, feelings or thought patterns.

Building rapport is key. In our first session, we will discuss your history, concerns, expectations, and cultural considerations to outline a customized treatment plan. I strive to make therapy a judgment-free, collaborative, and empowering process.

I have a high success rate with patients who are diagnosed with grief, post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety and anger issues. I have personal experience and recovery from the effects of trauma. Clients who have anxiety benefit from coping/calming therapy techniques. I am qualified to work with families to reduce conflict, teaching fair fighting, and communication skills. Also, work with people to reduce negative symptoms of Schizophrenia and Bipolar. Christian Therapy is very effective for persons who are spiritual in nature. Children have unusual ways of communicating their feelings, and my focus is to build worth and self-esteem through Play Therapy.

As humans, we experience change. At times change is welcomed and at other times change can cause distress. As a relational therapist with advanced trainings in Gottman techniques, I work with couples in facilitating change which can have the potential to promote secure attachment and trusting relationship. Individual therapy looks a bit different, though we are still impacted by the relationships we experience in the cycle of life. From birth, relationships shape who we become, how we behave, and in how we see and experience the world. Therapy allows for the exploration of these lived-experiences and impact on us as individuals.
