I created Agape Healing Works because I knew what it felt like to want to begin to heal but couldn’t afford that healing process or feeling judged about some of the decisions you have made in your life. We have all fell short of our hopes, dreams and aspirations that we desire in life but at Agape Healing Works those hopes, dreams and aspirations can become a reality. I am a licensed forensic psychologist specializing in psycho-legal assessment. I’m trained in the areas of risk assessment, competency to proceed, criminal responsibility, malingering, parental capacity and bonding, firearms evaluations, fitness for duty, and sexual recidivism. In addition to my assessment experience, I have completed clinical work related to juveniles within the criminal justice system, as well as adults ordered to participate in anger management, domestic violence, competency restoration, and sex offender treatment.

She understands that different techniques work for different people, and tailors her approach based on client needs for each session. In the 15 years prior to becoming a therapist, I served as an EMT and Paramedic. Before that, I served in the US Army where I deployed to Iraq two separate times. I believe that my experiences as a Veteran and a First Responder places me in the position to understand and relate to the unique challenges that these populations face. At this time, I work primarily with adolescents and adults with a special interest in Veterans and First Responders. In my experience over the past two decades, I’ve noticed that both Veterans and First Responders continue to be underserved and someone needs to “help the helpers.”

My ideal client is curious about themselves and the world and actively participates in the therapeutic process. I enjoy working with young adults and older adults, but I'm not limited to these populations. My ideal client is at a place of feeling "stuck" in their life. Whether that be a career transition, deciding on a college major, feeling lost in a relationship, or a new onset of symptoms. I am also comfortable with helping individuals unpack their past to understand their current habits. My ideal client wants to understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to develop self-awareness and self-compassion along the way.

Most of my clients are people who have lost sight of how awesome they actually are whether that be due to some sort of trauma, a bad or unfulfilling relationship, a chronic illness, or a mental health disorder. They are people looking to make sense of their realities and to learn how to manage them. My clients are mostly adolescents and adults, but I will see children who are capable of handling the telehealth format.

Richard is licensed by the State of New Jersey as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and is a National Board Certified Counselor (NBCC). Richard has over eight years of experience working with a wide range of adults and families in the mental health field settings at the Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient, Residential, Intensive In-Community Settings. Richard has experience with various issues, including Depression, Anxiety, Trauma, Bipolar Disorder, ADHD, Grief, Stress, Substance Abuse, Peer Relationships, Anger Management, Men’s Issues, and Domestic Violence.

I am dedicated to fostering a warm and non-judgmental environment in order to create a safe, supportive space. I work collaboratively with children, adolescents, and adults using evidence-based interventions including the strengths-based approach, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Reality Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
