As a psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker, I earned my MSW from Smith College School for Social Work in Northampton, MA. My professional background includes training at Duke University, Duke University Medical Center, and my work with children, teens, adults and families through the NC community mental health system. I have served as field supervisor for MSW interns from the UNC School of Social Work and as clinical supervisor for Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associates. I work mostly with adults who are working through grief, depression, anxiety, unskillful habit patterns, and existential/spiritual journeys. I strongly believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship. Because of the vulnerability involved in exploring your feelings, it is imperative that you feel safe and trusting of me. Together, we will process your feelings. This often leads to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and better coping skills. My focus is to collaborate with you on creating your personal goals and to offer you a comfortable environment to work through issues that are causing you unhappiness.

I am a queer, Black, fully-licensed therapist (LCSW) with over 10 years of clinical experience. I’ve worked with individuals as they face a terminal diagnosis; with patients who have experienced losses in their relationships and livelihood due to mental illness or a chronic condition; with couples as they navigate role shifts, parenting, and caregiving of elder family members; with clients whose life experience of social marginalization have led to depression; and with those presenting to their primary care doctor for stomach pain and heart palpitations, only to learn that anxiety is the root cause.

I work with individuals and couples to enhance their ability to cope in times of hardship, transitional periods and to problem solve life's many nuanced experiences. We collaborate and explore how the dynamic of engagement with self and others are connected to the most pressing issues.
