My primary focus in therapy – with individuals, couples or families – is to support and facilitate my clients in their journey to a deeper understanding and awareness of themselves. This goal is best achieved, I believe, by encouraging self-acceptance and insight, and by forming with each client a safe and nonjudgmental relationship. It is within this alliance that, together, we can explore, understand, and begin to gently dismantle the obstacles and unproductive patterns of coping that, although once useful in dealing with painful life events or childhood relationships, may now be keeping them from enjoying a more fulfilling life.

Even the most self-aware humans can experience periods of confusion, stuckness, and destabilization, and oftentimes suffering has unconscious roots. I've dedicated my training and education as a helping professional to learn how to unlock messages from the unconscious to promote healing and well-being. I also strive to arm my clients with concrete tools to use independently, long after our work together is completed. I have many years of experience helping people heal, blending a variety of nontraditional and expressive therapeutic approaches with evidence-based interventions to meet the individual needs of the people I serve.

I believe that the deepest healing happens when therapy is rooted in connection, empathy, and compassion, so my first goal is to create an environment in which you feel understood and supported. Likewise, I believe we are truly whole when our most important relationships are thriving – including our relationship with ourselves. Strengthening these relationships is a primary focus of my therapeutic approach, along with the attainment of embodiment and mindfulness. I work from a psychodynamic and experiential perspective to guide you towards an experience of authenticity and alignment with yourself, others, and the world.

Sometimes we find ourselves submerged in complicated feelings that are confusing and scary. This becomes a window into some of the core truths of our inner lives, of internalized relationships, longings, and past experiences. I accompany people through an exploration of this inner life and provide a supportive space to move through stuck points, process issues towards closure, and emerge to more genuinely appreciate your life and relationships.

I use Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples to interrupt repetitive Cycles where one person reaches out in frustration, causing their partner to withdraw and hide out. Couple Therapy doesn't have to be torture, and there doesn't have to be a "bad guy". I have helped couples with a range of issues from Domestic Abuse to infidelity to communication issues. I even use humor sometimes, but we don't waste a moment! I welcome couples who have been in couple therapy before and have almost given up.
