I specialize in trauma focused therapy using Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and Ego State/IFS Therapy. I view counseling as a collaborative relationship between the client and the counselor. This collaborative relationship allows the client and therapist to work together to address issues the client is facing through the development of mutually agreed upon clinical and personal goals. During therapy, I focus on patterns of thoughts, behaviors, moods, and communication that may contribute to client distress. I often address these issues utilizing Person-Centered, Systems, Cogitative Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (evidenced-based therapeutic practices).

Most of my clients are ordinary people who have been sexually abused as children or adults, or are from alcoholic families, or are struggling with alcoholism in their current life. They may be having difficulty adjusting to changing circumstaaances in their lives due to divorce or loss of a family member or friend. Many of my clients are experiencing depression or anxiety or chronic worry.

I have over 20 years experience creating a safe environment for individuals to clarify and manage feelings as well as learn new tools such as communication skills, and coping skills leading to positive change. I specialize in working with adults, and young adults on issues such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, anger-management, school issues, and relationship issues.
