Hi! My name is Kiera. I am a licensed Clinical Therapist and native of New Orleans. I have worked in the mental health field with several populations for over 5 years. I specialize in preteens, teenagers & young adults dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship issues and other mental difficulties. I work using a person-centered framework to empower my clients for their future. I strive to be the therapist that maybe I once needed. I view counseling as a collaborative relationship between the client and the counselor. This collaborative relationship allows the client and therapist to work together to address issues the client is facing through the development of mutually agreed upon clinical and personal goals. During therapy, I focus on patterns of thoughts, behaviors, moods, and communication that may contribute to client distress. I often address these issues utilizing Person-Centered, Systems, Cogitative Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (evidenced-based therapeutic practices).

Therapy is a collaborative process in which we gently explore your history and build on your strengths to create a greater sense of connection to you and your loved ones. We will increase your capacity and develop tools to become unstuck. I use a person-centered, attachment-based, trauma-informed, and multicultural approach. I have significant experience working with those who are healing from interpersonal trauma and complex grief. I work most with young people and adults who are navigating anxiety, sexuality, relationships, and life transitions. I work with couples who hope to increase intimacy and improve communication.

Life’s challenges don’t always respond to our usual strategies or the advice we seek from friends and family. Some situations require shorter-term solutions while others need deeper exploration and longer-term work. I see counseling as a process in which you the client, and I having come to understand and trust one another, work as a team to explore and define present problem situations, develop future goals for an improved life and work in a systematic fashion toward realizing those goals. I focus on clients with general mood disorders, addiction/ substance use and vocational issues. Working to help clients understand and identify their own strengths and incorporating coping skills. Helping them to exemplify their strengths while processing aspects of the past to create an understand their present and future.

My consulting practice is rooted in soul and informed by science. To possess the psychological mindedness and spirit required to pivot when your plans have been uprooted due to collective or personal events not imagined much less foreseen, is daunting even for the most accomplished of us. In the 90s, at the height of my career, I had to learn how to reorient psychologically and spiritually as well as financially in order to move forward. Since then, my professional experience includes a clinical internship and continued advanced post grad trainings in Freudian and Jungian psychologies including archetypal patterning recognition.

I am here to support you on your path toward living a meaningful life that matters to you. With that in mind, our work together will focus on exploring what you care about and what you want to stand for, and guiding you toward living a life in alignment with your dreams and values. I have several years of experience working as both an elementary school teacher and a university mental health counselor. I am more commonly known as Victoria Leigh Parenti, and I was born and raised in New Orleans. I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where I received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2014. Afterwards, I pursued a Master of Arts in Counseling with a special concentration in School Counseling at the University of Holy Cross, where I graduated in 2018. I trained and counseled in a variety of settings including the following: Thomas E. Chambers’ Counseling and Training Center, Department of Juvenile Services/Rivarde Juvenile Detention Center, East Jefferson High School, and Beacon Behavioral Outpatient Clinic.
