Since 2009, I have worked with college age and older adults to confront and manage struggles surrounding depression, anxiety, identity confusion, and trauma. We work collaboratively often using dreams and creative projects to gain deeper understanding of the unconscious. All of our work is approached with the presumption that there is an intelligence within that ultimately knows what is best for you, but this wisdom is often concealed by overwhelming emotions, grief, toxic relationships, self-defeating behaviors and thought patterns.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Board Approved Clinical Supervisor with 21 years of mental health experience, and have a law degree. I treat a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression and bi-polar depression, relationship issues and couple's counseling, and family mediation.

Thriving is not the same as just surviving. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) provide tools to both reduce distress and to build a full and robust life. I use CBT and DBT to teach you how to understand and regulate emotions, problem solve difficulties, and learn coping skills. I tailor evidence-based treatments by focusing on the person that you would like to become as a result of your hard work in therapy, and, if you aren’t sure who that is yet, we can explore that too! CBT focuses on current thoughts and behaviors to improve mood, reduce stress, and enhance relationships.

I focus on psycho-somatic practices to bring balance into the lives of my clients.

JFS counseling services are designed to provide guidance and psychotherapy for individuals and families on how to cope with interpersonal and family problems. Our staff of compassionate, highly skilled mental health professionals specializes in working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. Counseling is provided on an individual and group basis and our services are available to the Greater New Orleans community. JFS therapists are all Masters-level mental health professionals or Masters-level student interns. My approach to therapy is based on the conviction that our current behaviors are a function of our system and relationships with others.
