I am a clinical and developmental psychologist who works with young children, adolescents, and adults. I have special interest in post-partum mothers, anxiety reactions, and personality and identity development through life's transitions (parenting, separation, coping with college, new baby, grief, identity crises, major life events, etc.). I work with patients with symptoms of anxiety, depression, attention or learning problems, and those who have experienced traumatic stress or unusual mental symptoms.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 14 years of experience, my practice is centered on helping my clients find balance and deepen their ability to access true wellbeing. My work, both inpatient and outpatient, has ranged from helping adolescents bolster self esteem and coping skills on one end to helping adults who have suffered from mood and personality disorders on the other. My specialty, though, lies in the treatment of depression and anxiety disorders, and my work and anecdotal research has allowed me to develop a keen approach to the healing of these ailments on the path to achieving long term mental wellness.

I work with individual adults. My areas of specialization are people who were sexually abused as children; children (particularly daughters) of narcissistic mothers; grief issues; self esteem issues; intimacy issues, especially communication; depression; anxiety; adjustment disorders; obsessive compulsive disorder. and dependent personality disorder. I also have experience working with DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). I am a member of ASCH (American Society of Clinical Hypnosis) and have completed all components of the certification process. In addition, I am also trained in Mind/Body Medicine. No substance-related disorders.

I view counseling as a collaborative relationship between the client and the counselor. This collaborative relationship allows the client and therapist to work together to address issues the client is facing through the development of mutually agreed upon clinical and personal goals. During therapy, I focus on patterns of thoughts, behaviors, moods, and communication that may contribute to client distress. I often address these issues utilizing Person-Centered, Systems, Cogitative Behavior Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing (evidenced-based therapeutic practices).

JFS counseling services are designed to provide guidance and psychotherapy for individuals and families on how to cope with interpersonal and family problems. Our staff of compassionate, highly skilled mental health professionals specializes in working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. Counseling is provided on an individual and group basis and our services are available to the Greater New Orleans community. JFS therapists are all Masters-level mental health professionals or Masters-level student interns. They are well-trained and up-to-date on the newest Best Practices standards and evidence-based protocols.

I have experience working with children and geriatric populations. I think that telehealth and online therapy are very powerful tools that we have to bring our support to more people regardless of whether they are near or far.

I have been practicing as a psychotherapist for 30 years and I very much enjoy my work. My goal is to help people with healing, and in so doing help them to live a more joyful and meaningful life. I have years of experience helping clients address and recover from many different issues. I work with emotional wounds that are often at the core of issues that clients bring to me, and with healing trauma including religious trauma. I have found that when these wounds can be addressed in a safe environment, healing can take place. I work with adults of all life stages, with adolescents, children, with individuals, families and groups.

Hello, I am Debbie Hartzo I have an LMSW license with twenty years providing social work-counseling and use DBT therapy to clients in need. I volunteered for ten years serving individuals that were underserved and oppressed. I earned my Bachelors in Social Work from Grambling State University and my Masters in Social Work from Grambling State University I’ve worked in many different clinical settings ever since. I am a passionate and an empathetic therapist with strong counseling abilities and an understanding of interpersonal familial relationships. I am a Clinical Hypnotist & Reiki Master/Teacher. These modalities are a little bit different than traditional talk therapy. Prior to each session, I encourage an open dialogue.
