I specialize in psychological assessment, including assessment of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, problems with math, and problems with writing. I provide autism evaluations, as well as assessments for many other types of behavioral and emotional concerns. I also specialize in evaluations to assess for giftedness and am involved with a variety of gifted groups. I conduct testing necessary for private school admissions and for accommodations on standardized tests (SAT, ACT, LSAT, etc) and in higher education settings. I work with clients of all ages, from young children to adults.

I enjoy helping couples and individuals gain greater self-understanding, new relational insights, adaptive tools, and more effective interpersonal patterns. My approach is cross-disciplinary, incorporating experience in social work (BSW), ministry (MDiv, DMin, CSD) and counseling (MAC, LPC, EMDR, Gottman Method Couples Therapy). Through these overlapping disciplines I've noticed consistency in what brings healing, wholeness, and harmonious relationships.

My focus is to help people move through and overcome whatever obstacles are keeping them from experiencing a quality, fulfilling life. I work with a range of individuals and issues with either one person individually, or with a couple or family relationship. I have specialized training and education in treating ADHD in children and adults, in prenatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse, and trauma. I utilize a type of therapy called Somatic Experiencing to heal trauma which aims to restore the individual's nervous system to a less reactive state.

I believe psychotherapy is a mixture of psychoeducation (providing information to help people develop new coping and relationship skills), emotional processing (learning to identify and work through uncomfortable feelings), and corrective emotional experience (using the counseling relationship as a safe place to experiment with new interpersonal skills). I utilize a mixture of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (addressing how our thoughts and beliefs impact our emotional experience, self-image, and behavior); Family Systems Therapy (helping people gain insight into characteristic relationship patterns); and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (understanding how ways of coping developed earlier in life may not serve us well in the present).

My own experiences have taught me that no amount of preparation can spare me from the realities of being human.
