My philosophy of therapy is holistic, meaning that I believe people are made up of many parts: body, soul (mind, emotions, will), and spirit. When we can balance a positive identity with our role in the world while also remaining connected to others, we feel whole. Brokenness can occur if any of these relationships are out of balance. Trauma is something we all have in common. That statement will either completely resonate with you, or you’ll think it’s ridiculous with the belief, “well, I’ve never experienced trauma”. I would challenge the latter with your definition of trauma. There are what we call "big T" traumas, which are the catastrophic happenings in life. And "little t" traumas, which are the less significant but still impactful happenings; things like not getting the promotion you've been working towards, family tension, financial stressors, or even indirect exposure to something disturbing.
