Life is more enjoyable when we are feeling whole, healthy and connected to the important people around us. But sometimes our reality is disconnection, frustration, stress, and hopelessness. How can this be happening to me? Especially now! Most of us assume the journey to parenthood will be smooth and easy, rarely is that the reality. I support individuals and couples from the early stages of trying to conceive through the stress of launching adults and all the stages in the middle. My role is to be a coach as you try new strategies, process difficult feelings and work through challenges. You do not have to do this alone.

My passion is serving those in SLO community and promoting meaningful change and healing in the individuals I treat. I imagine you are here because something in your life has caused you pain or suffering. Achieving emotional and mental wellness is hard and uncomfortable work, but it does not have to happen alone. I honor the vulnerability and courage it takes to begin therapy. My goal is to help you discover a life of balance, authenticity, and happiness. Everyone can benefit from therapy— from children to adults.

Often people go through life just going through the motions, balancing school, work, home life, social life, relationships and much more. As a therapist with experience working with infants, children, adolescents, adults and couples I will use genuine curiosity, and empathy to learn your story to help you explore and process your feelings and emotions. Together we will discover ways to assist you in developing coping skills and assist you with helping you live the life you want. This will be a space for you to go at your own pace and together we can create a treatment plan that works best for you.

My name is Jennifer Hardy. I am Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 25 years' experience working with individuals, families, and couples. I have had the privilege of supporting a diverse population, including foster youth, sex workers, transgender youth and adults, and individuals involved in the criminal justice system. I focus on encouraging people to build upon their strengths in order to help them face and move through challenges.

I offer individual, couples and family therapy treating relational and transitional issues. I am culturally sensitive, respecting your unique story. I have a broad range of clinical experience. My background includes working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief/loss. I have a special interest and experience working with stressed and traumatized youth in the foster care and probation systems.

I grew up in Southern California and received my BA from California State University, San Marcos in Sociology and Liberal Arts. I obtained my MSW from the University of Southern California in 2002 and became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in 2008. I have over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families in a variety of settings. My experience includes working with individuals, couples, and families. I have a strong foundation in working with depression, anxiety, trauma, personality disorders, and substance use disorders.

Whether you have been in therapy before or are just beginning the process, I am so proud of you for being here. Therapy is a big step and can sometimes feel overwhelming. My goal is to walk alongside you and provide a safe space for you to move toward hope and healing. As a therapist, I value being authentic and genuine with my clients. Life can be full of challenges. With the many demands and uncertainty we face daily, learning how to cope with these stressors is extremely beneficial. Helping clients improve overall functioning and developing their "tool box" of skills will lead their ideal life.

I work from a depth and relationship based perspective while integrating play therapy and evidenced-based interventions to address the unique and personal needs of my clients. I have a special interest in working with individuals with trauma histories, including childhood maltreatment and abuse, and have completed formal comprehensive training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR). I encourage gaining awareness and curiosity for all parts of self to better understand how your past can influence your present and future as well as how individual strengths can help you heal and become whole.

I work with people who are experiencing issues with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, relationships (including domestic violence), trauma (including post-traumatic stress disorder), anger or stress. Working with a neutral third party can offer you an environment--one of safety and non-judgement--in which you may feel more at ease sharing and exploring your innermost thoughts and feelings. I see us working collaboratively on whatever issue(s) and/or goal(s)you bring in. I have been working in the counseling profession for more than 10 years. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families.
