Many times healthy individuals find themselves in internal struggles that are related to important growth points in their lives. These are periods of potential growth based in crises of values, spirituality, and expansion of self. Such crises are reflected in questions of a deeper, spiritual, or existential nature which the individual is asking, or in general non-specific feelings of unease, dissatisfaction, or depression. I specialize in working with young children (ages 0-11), caregivers and Moms struggling with parenting/life demands and/or postpartum depression and anxiety. For some, it may be an ongoing concern like managing anxiety/depression, enhancing communication, healing from 'the past'. For some there is an experience or event that is prohibiting forward movement... relationally, be it enhancing stability, increasing intimacy or overall improvement in the quality of relationship.

I believe that every individual’s story is unique and that therapeutic treatment should be individualized as I reflect this in my authentic, genuine, and personalized therapeutic approach. My approach to therapy is integrative including principles and techniques from acceptance and commitment (ACT), dialectical behavior (DBT), solution-focused, existential, reality/choice, and cognitive behavior (CBT) therapies. I view human nature from a holistic and humanistic standpoint believing that positive change can occur through the counseling process and a client’s decision to change with the facilitation of a counselor.

Anxiety is a thief. It robs us of our peace and happiness. Anxiety steals our ability to focus and concentrate making us less productive. It kills our creativity and can destroy our ability to hope for the best. From difficult but manageable symptoms such as elevated heart rate, shallow breathing and tension all the way to completely debilitating full blown panic attacks, anxiety touches all of us from time to time. However, when these issues begin invading our emotional and physical space on a regular basis our lives become disrupted and even unmanageable.

I know first hand how trauma can affect someone and their family. As a Hurricane Katrina survivor, I also know how utilizing help can heal, restore, and give one's power back to become resilient and pay it forward.
