Although psychological assessment can seem overwhelming, it is designed to help you and your loved one understand and find the correct treatment for their current symptoms. Similar to medical tests that are done to understand a patient’s physical symptoms, psychological assessment uses tests, questionnaires, and clinical observation to understand a person’s behavior, personality, cognitive and social-emotional functioning. It is likely that you are looking to gather information about yourself or your loved one in order to clarify and find a way to help them. Psychological assessment is a way to find answers to plan for treatment.

Note: I am only doing couples/marriage/premarital counseling at this time. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, my perspective of the human condition and experience is derived from thinking about the context of relationships. Very few, if any, "problems" are a solitary experience; it is often experienced with others in our lives.
