Psychotherapy offers a way to identify one’s thoughts, feelings and behaviors that result from life's naturally occurring challenges. This collaborative work encourages self-awareness and development of new ways of being. While I work with people seeking therapy for a variety of reasons, my specialties include mood disorders, relationship issues, and chronic illness/pain disorders. I integrate motivational, cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based approaches to help each person meet their goals. I also utilize a harm reduction framework to help individuals explore their substance use and identify opportunities for change.
With a focus on self-empowerment, I can help you increase your attention to the present moment, and accept thoughts and feelings without judgment. This mindfulness practice allows you to become more connected to yourself and your environment, often resulting in gaining new confidence and identifying new solutions.

Groups
Chronic Illness Psychotherapy Group
I am currently forming a mixed interpersonal process and skills oriented group for individuals managing chronic illnesses and/or chronic pain. The focus of the group will be on learning and practicing skills to relate differently to illness and pain; exploring how illness and pain impact self esteem, interpersonal relationships, sense of identity, mood and body image; processing feelings of fear, loss and anger around new or existing medical diagnoses; and connecting with peers who experience similar challenges. This group will meet via Zoom and is aimed for individuals in the 20s-40s age range residing in NY or NJ.
